I was messing around with explosions and fire. No damage to the player or NPC's. Just a visual effect. So anyone have some cool tricks up their sleeves to cause massive damage when bombs explode?
I have been trying to figure it out but the only thing that will cause massive damage other than an NPC would be a very long fall. My oldest son was jumping off cliffs on Risa last month and noticed the fall damage is very weak. Explosions and fire should have damage options in the Foundry.
Placing a high powered NPC? Not only might break the level cap on the mission but also look odd for you to be shot just before a bomb explodes.
This is something we've always wanted. I mean why have fire if it doesn't burn? They gave us the exploit song and dance. I wish I could say I see this coming in our future, but I don't think its one of the things they'll let us do.
Anyway, you could take an enemy mob and reskin it as one of the prop consoles or crates and place it nearby or in the fire. Unfortunately that means it'll move around while its shooting at you, which could be fine if you're making surrealist Woghd-style mission .
Barring that, you can always drop the floor out from under someone and make them fall to damage them. You can't die by falling, no matter how high, but big falls do kill BOFFS.
You wouldn't be able to reskin them AS fire, since fire is a detail rather than an npc, but you might be able to skin them as some crates (the props in the npc tab) that are "on fire" ? i.e. have them sitting on top of the fire detail.
It's annoying that these effects don't do damage, but have you noticed how pathetic the damage from environmental effects is in the normal game? A plasma fire does like 20 damage or something like that. You'd have to stand in it for a minute to end up getting killed. Since the damage is so low in the normal game, having these effects do no damage is almost no different.
One thing I do is put invisible walls to prevent people from entering them. They're held back by the heat.
