MK XII Console Making Percentage Unblance

technician1954technician1954 Member Posts: 7 Arc User
With percentages of 28% for Green, 51% for Blue, and 21% for Purple, I expected to see Blue consoles half the time, but it seem to me that half was Green. So I recorded the results from making 20 MK XII consoles, and it resulted in 10 Green, 5 Blue, and 5 Purple. I posted my results to my fleet and received replies stating that other members are seeing the Green consoles are being made more often even when the percentages favor the Blue and/or Purple. Are there any other players who have seen this unbalance in there console making?

I myself have seen odd results, I put it down to be a roll of the die and just plain unlucky, but recently I have been stacking doffs in favour of critting this because of the weird results.

I have asssigned my best non engineers with the best traits and purple quality to boost my crit chance, the only thing I could do to further bost crit chance is to get fully traited engineers. Since doing this I still get greens but I have seen an increase in purples compared to when I was just focusing on lowering failure to boost success which led to mainly a mix of predominantly greens and some blues with purple rewards rarely surfacing and even then my crit chance was slightly higher than yours.

You may want to check your doffs as those sound low. I know the last time I tried this with three purple doffs and I think 3 or 4 matching traits, it was like 10-50-40 or so. If you;re going with what the first officer suggests, many of us have realized that that may not always be the best and a manual lookthrough of your doffs may work out better for you.

A quick search of the forums should have shown you a couple threads on the topic. For example:

I;m on battery so you;re going to have to do your own searching but that should get you started.

    Hope this helps.

I use the same five DOFFs for all 20 missions to make consoles. I would have expected 6 Green, 10 Blue, and 4 Purple based on my present percentages. I would have maybe accepted 8/8/4, but after making 50 consoles and seeing them half of them Green, I believe there is something wrong in the way the percentages are applied to the program.

Mix of low sample size and gambler's fallacy.

With most elements of probability in this game, I'd usually side with the poster above who mentioned that it's just gambler's fallacy (i.e. reading what you want to read into a small set of results). However, there does seem to be some incongruity when it comes to the stated DOff mission chances, hence the notorious missions which are total death traps for white DOffs despite a substantially low chance of failure.
