Hello all!

Back from a long break, wanna get my tac's back up and running for pvp!

Always liked my dread, wanted to go phaser lancing. I'm looking for a captain, gear, and BO ability build for a PVP Dreadnaught. I've found a few helpful links....

http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=282361&highlight=dreadnaught
http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=274128&highlight=dreadnaught
http://sto-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=271813&highlight=dreadnaught

However nothing really solid. I am posting this in the PVP forums as well in the event it is more suited there.

Thank you all in advance!!

The best thing you can do is to do the assault cruiser build on that ship. The dread has the same boff and console layout. The cannons don't work as well in PvP due to the slow turn rate. I wouldn't put more then one cannon on it.

...You don't PvP much with a dreadnought, do you?

Galaxy-X =/= Sovereign... if you're trying to fly it like one, then all I can say is thanks for the easy win.

@OP: Brittishtar beat me to the punch. Give that thread a read and I'd be happy to answer any/all questions afterward.

Or you can do what the bias idiot above me states. After all, to the trolls in that section of the forum, if you're not using their build in either an Ody, escort, carrier, or Intrepid you're an idiot and get nothing but 4+ pages of trololol's without any actual viable response.

    I suppose that'd work too.

Those who you call idiots and trolls are some of the best PvP players in this game, they are part of the top pvp fleets, and they have FAR more experience than you in PvP, so instead of be offended, try to learn something about them.

If u want answers why dreagnout is bad for pvp we can give u tons of it, and prove it to you in the game, but for experiencie i can tell that ppl like u won't listen, because u don't want to understand why dreagnout is bad, u only want to be right

Anyway u don't need to be an PvP top player for figure out that the dreagnout is one of the worst ships for PvP. Just with a little understanding about game and pvp mechanics u can figure out

I took a fast look at your dreagnouh pvp guide post, first of all is patetic that u recommend the use of graviton pulse and AMS for a pvp build, the need of those p2w consoles is the clear prove that u build is fail. Any serious pvp match have all those consoles banned.

Take your best cannons build, and a i take my escort and i show u how i can dance around you without u being able of even take one of my facing shields (except maybe with the alpha strike, that maybe can take down my facing shield, but for sure that won't kill me at all). With a FAW build u can do a little better work with full broadside and 8 beams, maybe with luck it will take u like 15mins kill just a simple escort, if u don't die before that...my preditction is that in the best of the cases u can get a 0-0 if u do a good zombie build.

And well, nothing to say about 5v5 matches, if the other team decent proper healings and coordination, u will do negible dmg, and u will die very quick.

    trololol

    tl;dr

If a "good PvPer" is only repeating, "you suck" over and over, the end result is it's nothing more than a troll being a troll, regardless of how well he can whip that escort around.

His skill at that point becomes irrelevant.

Much like the common 9-12 year olds in Halo.

Hakaishin is a formidable PvPer who knows how to pilot and get the most out of the dreadnought. Most dreads are piloted by noobs that will be easily picked off by a kid with good twitch reflexes flying an escort... enahncing the rep that the dread is nothing more than a noob symbol that says come kick my TRIBBLE.

Hak is doing a public service by educating those interested in flying a difficult ship that is not meant to be the ultimate for any specific purpose in a PvP team (healer/tank/dps.... we can all think of superior examples, right?). Piloting a dread effectively encompasses elements of all three, throw in the cloak & lance with the maneuverability of a satiated pig... it is its own unique challenge.

    To each their own.

Thank you Chille, though this man is indeed entitled to his opinion... though he misses something worth noting in my case, that makes it an exception.

You see, playhard88... I only have 1 useful arm.

Shrapnel from an explosion in the 2nd Battle of Fallujah (Operation: Phantom Fury) pierced the nerves in my left arm (and to this day, hasn't been fully removed).

Because of this, I actually cannot feel anything from my elbow down.

Naturally, I'm certain you can imagine, this makes gaming in a PvP environment rather difficult.

Especially if I'm trying to fly around in a fast-whipping Escort.

That said, I started investigating alternatives. I started with Excelsiors but for some reason didn't really like their style of play, and were still a bit difficult for me to manage given this limitation due to their increased speed.

Dreadnought is slow, but has teeth. Hits harder than ANY other ship in the game, bar none. No other weapon in the game can match the 100k+ damage I can produce in 1 hit in PvP. It's slow, and easier for me to control.

Its cloak allows me to take my time in maneuvering into a position I want before I engage.

I hope that answers why I am apparently such a "noob" in your eyes... yet somehow manage to win.

Though I've to admit, I'd like to see you do better in my position.

That said, I enjoy my Dreadnought. I win with my Dreadnought.

I need no other reason to use it.
