News page Facebook floater is really annoying

The Facebook floaty thing that is in the righthand column of the News page is really very annoying, but really only because it follows you around when you scroll the page. If it was just tacked in one spot it would be fine, but as it stands - it's really very irritating.

Anyone else think so? PW, can it maybe be tacked in place? Please?

    If you're using Chrome or Greasemonkey, I wrote a little extension to remove it and widen the text pane.

    I could make a version that just pegged it in place if you'd prefer that ?

    Adblock for Chrome was able to get rid of it for me.

    I feel it should not be visible to gold members and lifers

    because basically its S:P:A:M:
