I figure with the recent forum/website shakeup, this is probably a good opportunity to re-make the STO Google Calendar thread I had on the old forums:
In absence of a visual calendar on the STO main page, I have created a Google Blogger page called
SubSpace Agenda with a calendar as the centerpiece. With this site, not only can you view the calendars, but you can filter which ones you want or don't want to show at the same time.
I have also created 5 calendars via Google Calendar which you can view individually or subscribe to:
- STO General Calendar (HTML to view) (iCal to subscribe)(XML for RSS)
- This calendar contains the General Events going on in-game such as Featured Episodes, HOLODECK and TRIBBLE (and possibly REDSHIRT) server updates, as well as updates to the C-Store.
- STO Community Events (HTML to view) (iCal to subscribe) (XML for RSS)
- These are the various in-game community events and community-based announcements
- STO Group Events (HTML to view) (iCal to subscribe) (XML for RSS)
- These are the various events based around group activity (5-players & up), such as STFs, Defera Borg Invasions, Mirror Universe Incursions, and The Vault event.
- STO Fleet Events (HTML to view) (iCal to subscribe)(XML for RSS)
- This calendar displays Fleet-oriented events such as featured projects for Fleet Starbases and Fleet Embassies, as well as other Fleet-oriented events.
- STO Dilithium Gathering Events (HTML to view) (iCal to subscribe) (XML for RSS])
- These are events where the primary reward is Dilithium, or a bonus amount of Dilithium. This includes but is not limited to the Academy Events, the Dilithium Mining Event, and Foundry Officer Reports.
- STO Miscellaneous Events (HTML to view) (iCal to subscribe) (XML for RSS)
- These are events that aren't well classified into any of the other categories.
About the various links:
- HTML - Obtain the public URL to view a read-only version of these calendars without signing in to Google Calendar. Use this URL to view these individual calendars directly in your browser window.
- XML or iCalendar - Use these formats to view a read-only version of these calendars from other applications. You can use this address to subscribe to your calendar feed in Google Calendar, access your calendar from feed readers (like Google Reader) as well as products that support the iCalendar format (like Apple's iCal). To subscribe to these calendars using Google Calendar:
- Click the down-arrow next to Other calendars
- Select Add by URL from the menu
- Find the address of the Google Calendar in iCalendar format, or if you have the iCalendar address of a calendar from a different application (for example, Apple's iCal), you can use this as well.
- Enter the address in the field provided
- Click the Add Calendar button. The calendar will appear in the Other Calendars section of the calendar list to the left.
Some other notes:
- Sorry, the individual HTML link calendars default to a uniform color, which I cannot change (the website has multicolored calendars.)
- Also apologies for the time formatting. All times are in Pacific Time (Cryptic Studios' Time). I had hoped there would be some way to get the calendars to auto-adjust for the user's time zone, but I can't seem to find a way (without making a completely separate calendar for every time zone, which I'm NOT doing).
- if anyone more familiar with Google Calendar knows of a solution, please let me know.
- until then, a semi-workaround if you already use Google Calendar and have subscribed or added these events to your own calendar(s):
- from Google Calendar, click the Gear button in the upper-right corner
- Click Lab
- Scroll down until you see the "World Clock" app
- Click "Enable"
- Click "Save"
- now whenever you click on an item in your calendar, you should see what time that event occurs in multiple time zones in the column on the right, and can set which time zones appear.
- Also if you already use Google Calendar, you can format the time into a 24hour format from the default 12hr format, but apparently it only appears in that format on your machine, and won't transfer over if you try to share the calendar to someone else.
If you have some hard dates of some items that I've missed, please post them in this thread and I'll try to include it where appropriate.

Now, another main difference between this thread and the previous "upcoming events thread" was that Branflakes could edit the OP of the thread with a simple link, which turned the OP into a giant list (which IMO is not very appealing to look at for what should be a calendar). While Branflakes "could" do something similar to that with this thread, he wouldn't be able to update the calendars, or blog, or G+ page unless I gave him Management rights on each of those... which, the more I think about, the more I wonder if I should just apply for a Community Rep position for STO and get paid to do keep doing all things myself. Hrm...

Infinite possibilities have implications that could not be completely understood if you turned this entire universe into a giant supercomputer.
So when there is an update to Coming Content and Events, you will update the OP, then direphoenix will have to update the calendar?
OR
Can you, Brandon, update the info in this third party thread?

Three years and still no Captain Klaa hair...
It's up to them This thread is not maintained by us, just like most of the other stickies on this forum. I'll be posting up Blogs, forum posts, etc. that contain information that could be linked in these calendars if the OP chooses.
Cheers,
Brandon =/\=
Great!!! Thanks!

everything in this calendar has lready been anounced.
the point of a calendar is to see whats coming up not what has already happend
I post things as far ahead as Cryptic announces them. If they announce something 2 days or 2 weeks ahead, that's when I post it, and place it on the calendar for the scheduled time (or extrapolated time in the case of the Season 6 estimate). Also, you can view the calendars for the upcoming weeks or months as well as the past (and click on the events on the calendars for more details). Both events posted today were posted ahead of when they happened. The Account System maintenance hasn't even started yet as of this posting.

(Apologies for the delay in updates. Somehow I blew up my motherboard on Friday and only had sporadic access to the web via my phone when I wasn't going through an extremely improbable 2 bad motherboards and 6 bad sticks of RAM in a row while trying to reassemble my desktop.)

Interesting... I'm investigating this now.
Google Calendars gives three different types of links to share Calendars.
The HTML links are actual separate web pages for the individual calendars that you can view without signing in to Google Calendar.
The XML links look like they may actually be for RSS feeds like Google Reader or other RSS readers. (I'm not sure how a Calendar subscribed via an RSS reader would look)
There is also an iCal link that I had not previously added here because 1) that would be a THIRD link and probably confusing, and 2) it looks like something intended for Apple products.
It appears that the way that "add a friend's calendar" option is supposed to work is that you enter a contact's email address, and you can see and add any of that account's public calendars to your own Google Calendar, which I don't think I'm actually prepared to do here and now.
There are other instructions for using the iCal links to subscribe to various calendars, which I will post here:
And with that, here are the various links to the STO SubSpace Agenda calendars, updated with iCal links to subscribe:
I'll be updating the OP with these new instructions and links.
EDIT: Also, I'm not sure why the forum keeps inserting a space between the "google" and the ".com" in the STO Community Events's iCal link. I've re-copied it twice and even tried manually re-typing it and for some reason the forum keeps inserting a space there. If you're trying to subscribe to that specific calendar, just remove the extraneous space in there for now.
EDIT2: UPDATE: Ok, fixed the link. I missed an opening url tag bracket. Still odd that it was inserting that space in the address though.

**NOTE: Due to the new arrangement of events in Season 6, the various regularly scheduled calendars (such as the STO Dilithium Events Calendar, STO Group Events Calendar, and STO Miscellaneous Events Calendar) may be getting some changes over the next couple weeks. In addition, I will be creating a new STO Fleet Events Calendar to display the times when the Fleet events are active. More than likely I will be posting this information tomorrow when I've had some time to examine the new schedules.

Correct... for now.
The schedules for the Dilithium, Group, and Miscellaneous Events got all sorts of rearranged for Season 6. Previously, they were on a two-week recycle (except for the STFs, which seem unchanged). I have no idea if they're going to repeat on the same cycle again, so until I determine a specific pattern I'm manually adding the events.
For example, the Fleet Marks Events seem to happen every 7 hours for 2 hours each except this weird thing today (Sunday) where at 0000 and 2300 (Pacific Time) they were only 1 hour each... so, the patterns may not be as regular as they were before.
