Are you running beam weapons and make heavy use of beam overload?

Are you running a Klingon side ship that has a cloak?

Do you regularly drop straight out of full impulse into combat?

Do you have your power presets customized and regularly switch between them?

    ---

EPS is mainly for power level recovery during the scenarios I mentioned above.

i use beam weapons and no longer use beam overload due to some other advice.

don't use Klingon ships. i have one ship that cloaks but i seldom use that feature.

sometimes from full impulse into combat, but not always.

preset powers, but typically no switching.

Then that's why you're not seeing much of a difference from an EPS Console -- what I listed were reasons people use it. Ditch it, put something else in.

Some people actually still believe that those EPS Flow Regulators help with energy weapon drain....

i still have the eps consoles since they are 70% transer rate, but keep them in inventory. inventory space is limited, but before i ditched them i wanted to make sure i was not missing something.

    thanks!!

Sort of -- they help recovery after spike drops.
The EPS Flow Regulator is an Engineering Console that improves the power transfer rate between systems and recharge rates of a ship's power levels.

It is helpful in recovering from power loss caused by a beam overload or full impulse

And folks disagree if it really does that or not.

edit: I took mine out and am seriously thinking about putting it back in.

Dunno, I have one in my cruiser, but I also use it for a couple of the other reasons (power profiles and dropping out of impulse).

Although if I was gearing up for PVP I might replace it for something else, right now I'm set up for PVE/STFs.

EPS Flow Regulators speed up the time it takes your power level to adjust when the power levels change. (Does not apply to energy weapon power drain. It's a different mechanic). By default power changes 5 units per second. As an example, going from power settings 25 to power setting 100 takes 15 seconds. EPS Flow Regulators speed that up. As to whether they are useful to your it depends on your ship and play style.

EPS Flow regulators are great if you shift power profiles during combat. (i.e. going in initially in defense profile in a cruiser as a tank, when the enemies get thinned out a bit shifting to Offense profile to take out the riff-raff and then start to focus on the big boss, and possibly shifting back to Defense profile or a custom support profiles (High Aux for good heals) when things get a big dicey with the boss). I found that when I play I'll shift power profiles a lot in Cruisers and Shience Vessels. In Escorts I'm usually gung-ho all the time staying in Offense profile.

I would point to my Beginner's Guide to Ship's Power for a better explanation. But IT happened. So I'll just point to you to the sticked thread in Federation and Klingon Ship Play sub-forums.
