Ok I gambled to get the token store maco bridge officer...I have him equipped with omega XII gear...I could not get him to remod his gun untill I went into my replicator and made a remodeulator even then when he gets incapacitated he gets injuries and 99% of the time when he is incapacitated his body goes invisible .... really he needs three Borg remodes...for it to work....does anyone else have this problem to? Please let me know.
Boffs in general are to stupid to use the integrated remodulator of the sets.
Him going invisible is the same with all other holographic doffs, they are shutdown and reduced to their mobile emitter, which is a serious pain to locate.
Can't say he is not effective on the ground, plus he looks nifty.
well im mad cuz i spend almost $70.00 dollars to get him...he dont functon correctly then to top that off....ppl acan trade him and hes only going for around 10m...must be cuz hes half broken....I want all my cpoints back but that wont ever happen......they got my money but now im on f2p and i wont ever EVER GAMBLE AGAIN..if i would had known they was going to make him tradable i would had spent 10m then used my 7k crip points on some kewl ships.......
Boffs dont use most items correctly/efficiently in general, its not just the photonics. Dont bother giving them hortas, they wont use them. If you give them hypos/batteries, expect them to use them willy nilly. The last goes with the devidian cane and phasing device as well. They dont even use hand to hand weapons reliably.
Bottom line is that Boffs ai's are marginal at best, thats why even if it was allowed to use your boffs on ground STF's, you would still fail miserably. IMO.
New home of the Romulan Republic.
I have an idea for what Season 11 should be; Season 11: The Big Bug Fix.
I have not been able to read my bug tickets in over a year, not even the tickets about not being able to see my tickets.
I find the drama of your signature proof of your immaturity, this means you, DR whiners.
It sounds as though one of the core beefs here is a technical issue that we've been attempting to find a solution for: Boffs can't use set abilities. If you give them a 2- or 3-piece ground set, they are incapable of activating any powers they are granted by that equipment. Not just "too dumb" but actually, technically, incapable.
So, buyer beware, I suppose. Until we can find a technical solution, it may not be the best idea to put Set Gear on any Boff. At least not for set bonuses.

Yes, passives work. My statement was "they are incapable of activating any powers they are granted by that equipment." I suppose that could be seen as a bit unclear. I was referring only to abilities that require manual activation.

Hmmm which would be more difficult and more likely a solution...
Program BOFFs so they could use abilities or add in specific passives to sets only active when equipped on BOFFs?
Do BOffs use their trait abilities at least? I can't order my borg to stun or my Vulcan to nerve pinch, and since I can't set the cooldown I won't even notice if they did...

why cant you just make a seperate tray that us players can atleast active these powers?
The other problem is they are addicted to hypos. if you give them a stack and they will have them all used up by the end of the mission. they could have full health and out of combat and there they are getting their fix.
One of my BOFFs has an Omega Force set and cloaks all the time, so some of the set stuff works.
As for the Photonic MACO, the support drone kicks butt (although it draws a lot of aggro), and the BOFF itself looks damn cool. Well worth it I must say!

Is this the same reason why BOs won't use pets? Specifically, I'm thinking of the Combat Horta Pets. I bought those from the C-Store to give to my BOs and I've NEVER seen a BO summon a horta.
You can find/contact me in game as @PatricianVetinari. Playing STO since Feb 2010.

Even if they did, they probably would trigger them at the worst possible time. And with the cool-down the Hortas have (unless you're using the tactical ground cool-down cutting power - forget its name off the top of my head), they aren't going to be usable all that often in any case.

Do they benefit from set passives?
I swear I saw the Jemmie shroud work...

On Autofire, even.
