Two days ago I discovered that my best friend for my entire life has some type of cancer, though they don't know the details yet. That in itself is a VERY long story, but I can say that I've known him since literally before he could talk and this really sucks.
I got married the day before that. Freaking terrible timing.
That's not entirely the reason I can't play anymore though, as it isn't taking much time away from me. Basketball practices have begun and I'm coaching a high school varsity team which shall not be named. Some of you may know that I was working on making the NBA this year but tore my ACL, so that didn't work out. Was easy enough to get a job for coaching the team that I averaged 27 points per game on five years ago though.
At this point I really don't care who all knows this stuff. If anyone can do something bad to me IRL for saying this "private" info, it wouldn't be worse than what I've already gone through.
Final note since I know everyone would wonder this though they don't want to ask: I'm black.
I'll be logging on again, probably tomorrow, to say goodbye to those that weren't on today.

First, I may not have seen you a lot during the past few months, but if it matters at all, I too am sad that you're going away.
About your friend, what I'll say is cliche but tell him that he should not stop his life just because of it, and still try to achieve stuff and keep his hope up. Remember, life without endeavor is like entering a diamond mine and coming out empty handed.

Yay! I may start lessons on website construction! (at this country's equivalent of community college, so they might not be great but still, I shall learn something!)
Issue #1: Dr. B.J. is my very first Science character, so this is very much uncharted territory. What options do I have for an excellent Science ship without using real money? My first wish is the Vesta, but that requires real money....I know I could just spend 5million EC to get that one Module so I can buy the Fleet Nebula......but the standard Nebula has not served as well as I hoped it would....I could tank better in my Captain-level Intrepid. At 160+ million, the Temporal ship is out of the question, unless you have one you just want to simply get rid of. What other options do I have?

Issue #3: Dr. B.J. is level 48, so why are all the story missions only giving me Mk X gear? Some of the missions give stuff that Dr. actually needs, such as the Jem'Hadar space set, but I need the XI versions. I tried relogging, but not even that solved the problem. What is happening here?
My other dilemma is the type of ship I should be using. Science ships have Subsystem Targeting, but it does not seem to do anything at all. For example, I use Target Weapons. The screen says "Offline," but the ship is still shooting at me. I use Target Shields. The screen says "Offline," but all the shields are still up. I use Target Engines. The screen says "Offline," but the ship is still moving. What is the point of having a Science ship if the innate ability does nothing?
At this point, I almost think better to just use a Cruiser. The guaranteed bonus to all subsystems is better than a special firing mode that does nothing at all. So should I just go for a Fleet Ambassador or Star Cruiser?
Subsystem targeting gives a chance for system to go offline. The standard effect is that it drains power, making energy weapons deal less damage, shields regenerating more slowly, ships moving slower and science abilities being less effective (on the enemy). You may get lucky and get an offline system, but the drain is useful too. Not on PvP but on PvE. I like watching my enemy NPC's weapons get nerfed...
