One Shot Kills

l9of20l9of20 Member Posts: 0 Arc User
I am getting seriously tired of EVERY time I get into an STF on STO, EVERY freaking thing except for probes has one shot kills on ANY STF, ground or space. It gets super frustrating when your trying to play a round on cure, even though you have your ship set to where your doing well over 4,000 DPS, your still dieing from a Negh'var or a Bird-of-Prey or a Raptor having the same heavy fire power as the Cubes your sent in to destroy. Now on Infected and Khitomer Space Elites, I can understand the Gateways having one shot kills or being oober powerful with their weapons because of the overall size of the Gateway. But the ships on Cure Elite space NEED to be weakend. I am sure that there are dozens of not hundreds of people from all over the game that think the same that I do. NO NPC should have a shot that will deal well over 40,000 in damage.:mad::mad::mad:

You claim to be doing over 4,000 DPS yet you're being one-shotted by EVERYTHING?

What are you flying, a Defiant-R with no shields?

    1)Armor
    2)Defense
    3)Pop some active resist powers

What's wrong with you, it's not that hard.

You know the part I love most about the OP? Throwing out this irrelevant arbitrary "DPS" number like someone was supposed to care.

Mr Op you get a 2/10.

Only time I get 1-shot in STFs these says is if I get hit by a High Yield Plasma Torpedo while Pattern Omega or Polarized Hull are on cooldown. Outside of that, I don't recall being 1-shot even in a BoP.

So I think the OP is not keeping up his resistances during battle.

As far as Negh's and Rap's go, 1 on 1, first thing you do every time is pop a EPTS before your shields start to drop, then you unload everything you've got before that sucker wears off. Only problem is that you can't get too close or they WILL pop you with a plasma torp, so you need to stay far enough back to give you enough time to shoot those things down.

I used to get destroyed by them because I hadn't yet learned how or when to use EPTS. Now, most of the time, I can take them 1 on 1 no problem. Sometimes they team up on me and it's game over before it begins but I really haven't feared them for awhile now as an escort.

The same can be said for the cubes too, til they instant kill you, which isn't too terribly often on cure space, at least. Instant kills should go, but beyond that I don't see a problem. The top tiered gear(starting with blue MKXI for low end and upwards to MKXII purples for high end) protects you just fine assuming you use BO abilities correctly. If you haven't yet, whoever you may be, trust me it's worth learning. Even in game messages during zoning will tell you this - "remember to use shield powers before your shields drop!" something along those lines. It's a very good pro tip to take to heart.

You know, l9of20 has a point. I just did Cure Space Elite and the birds of prey, raptors, and Negh'var Warships kept one shot killing me every time they fired a High Yield Plasma Torpedo. And that is super annoying. I run with 4 Field Generators to up my shields as high as I can get them, and still die off anything like that. It makes me just as mad as the person who posted this. I have been playing off and on for well over 4 months and know how l9of20 is doing those high DPS shots. I know because my cousin does the same thing I do. The point is though, even though someone can pull off a massive DPS, it is still very annoying when you do everything you can to get everything super powerful, just to be destroyed in a single shot.

For those of you who do actually care about what I use, I have a Defiant Retrofit with 3 MK XII Antiproton Dual Heavy Cannons [Borg], 1 MK XII Quantum Torpedo launcher [Borg], and 3 MK XII Antiproton Turrets [Borg] with MK XII Omega Ship set, 3 MK XI Plasma Distribution Manifold [Rare], 1 MK XI Field Generator [Rare], Assimilated Module, and 4 MK XII Antiproton Mag Regulators [Rare]. Without using my buffs and placing ALL power to weapons, I sit at 1,829 DPS. When I turn on ALL buffs, Tactical Team II, Tactical Fleet II, Attack Pattern Alpha III, Go Down Fighting III, I sit at exactly 4,237 DPS

What are your boff abilitys? DPS has nothing to do with your survivability. Why do you have 3 plasma distribution manifolds? What are your other power settings? What shield/deflector/engine combo are you running?

Granted I do agree that the crits were a little insane at times (especialy the invisable torpedos of death!) but if you look at the most recent patch notes they are nerfing the klingon ships a little.

Also I can totaly see being one shotted with all the resistances up. I got hit once for 150k.

disposebleh3r0 - To answer your question, like I mentioned before... I am running the MK XII Omega Ship set. And since I have 3 Antiproton Dual heavy cannons in the front, along with 3 Antiproton turrets in the rear, I have 2 of my 4 tactical officers with Cannon rapid fire 1 2 & 3 and Torpedo Spread 1 & 3. The two with the cannon rapid fires also have tactical teams 1 and 3 on them so I constantly have bonus to weapons and some kind of defense to boarding parties.

And also, I have the 3 Plasma Distribution Manifolds in my Engineering Console slots because they give a bonus % to all energy weapons. Go to the exchange and look one up and see what I am talking about

As stated elsewhere the 3 pice borg set eith the maco shields gives an escort the dest sirvivability. Also tac team automaticly distributes your shields to the facing under attack so try and keep one of those up at all times (also makes your attack patterns slightly better as well as weapon damage). What you didn't include are your engineering or science powers, or your power settings. Also i remember seeing that you had 3 plasma distribution manifolds, why? if i recall this gets you 10.5 or so to your weapons setting?

If your wanting to run a gun ship with massive survivability, you may want to get that Heavy Escort Carrier they came out with a little while ago. Place all your science consoles with the Field Generators so your shields will be as high as they can go. I have one on my Recon Sci Vessel and I bumped my shield strength from 8,000 to 12,000 and was able to last longer then i normally do in Elite space STF's.

Speaking of Elite STF's can people PLEASE stay out of Cure Elite if you DONT know how to win on it. I have not ONCE won a match on it because stupid people keep blowing one of the cubes before the others are ready. They sit there and think "Oh, this will play out EXACTLY like normal, so I am gonna kill this thing and move to the next." And when you ask, tell, and YELL at them to not kill the cube, they ignore you.

I know how you feel. Out of every Cure Elite match that I have ever done, I have only won a total of 4 times. I was lucky on my first time through Cure Elite, I got the Prototype engines so I could start getting the parts for the MK XII Omega set I have. It does get annoying when you see someone shooting at one of the cubes and you say in team chat to stop, you PM the person to get them to stop, and they are just like "WHAT???????" And when we loose, they ask everyone why? That gets super annoying
