Vor'cha Refit with DHC's?

I bought the Vor'Kang off of the C-Store a while back and I'm still thinking about how to run it. Right now my main ship is a Beam Boat Bortas and I was hoping to try something different. The Vor'Kang seems to be a smaller, quicker cruiser that could actually make use of Dual Heavy Cannons, provided you keep your target slowed and in your front arc. Does anyone have any advice on how to accomplish this? If it doesn't work I can always just run it as a beam boat but i'd much rather use a different build than my Bortas.

I haven't put it into practice, but my theory for a Vor'cha was.

    Fore:
    Torp, DHC, SC, SC

    Aft:
    4xTurrets

Now I'm a Tac my plan is nothing takes more than 1 pass, drop cloak, pop Alpha, Tac, HYT, CRF, and open fire.

Probaly better to use Scatter and Spread now that I think about it.

That basic weapons load out works well. However, since the Vor'cha suffers from having only a lieutenant tactical officer slot you will need some other skills and consoles to augment your damage output.

Consider adding the following engineering skills; emergency power to weapons-1, auxiliary to dampeners-1 and distributed energy modulation-2 or 3.
An EPS Manifold and an RCS engineering console will be very helpful as well.

Tactical team-1 will give a much-needed boost to your damage output as well. And if you are a tactical captain the tactical initiative skill will reduce the cool down on your BO skills.

But since TT-1 will step on a torpedo skill, consider running without torpedoes - instead using another single cannon or DHC but only if you can manage the significant weapons power drain. Also use a weapon that will give you a significant proc per energy pulse such as hybrid plasma-disruptor, disruptor or anti-proton.

And remember you will need to be close to your target to put the hurt down. This build may not be as effective DPS-wise as a beam-boat, but it *is* alot of fun!

Hm, thanks for all the advice. One question, I couldn't find an EPS manifold in the Dilithium shop. What do they do?

Sorry i called it a manifold, I had "enhanced plasma manifold" on the brain - it's a "flow regulator".

However the EPS consoel does not help you regenerate power faster during weapon fire. It only helps with power recovery from Beam Overload, full impulse or switching power levels.

I run my Vor'cha Refit almost like a raptor. I have a Quad, DC, DBB, and a torpedo fore, 3 cannons and 3 x turrets and a torp aft. With an Aux to Dampeners 2, you can get almost 30 deg/sec turn rate which allows you to keep your weapons on target. I run with Beam FAW and CRF, hence the DBB, but if you wanted Tac Team and CRF, you could go with a second DC (or DHCs).

Well I run my Vor'Cha with 1 dual, 1 heavy dual, and 1 singel canon + Torpedo (3 turrets + Torpedo aft).

Works prety well in PVE (Foundry missions ect) But its just a fun ship, wouldnt do STFs or PVP with it.

Really? huh.. oh well I do Elite STF's all the time with mine ...works great no worries for me anyway.... 1xquad 2xDHC 1xtorp up front 3xturrets 1xtorp rear

As Destinii said, I run mine more like a Raptor with CRF&Tac and have little problem keeping my cannons on target :D

You gave the answer to yourself. EPS Flow Regulators improve the power transfer rate as well as the recharge rate of a subsystem's power level.

They are different effects of the same dynamic. It's about "moving power". Imagine it as transferring power not only between systems but also back to one system. It's really the same thing.

I'm currently running an Excel retrofit with 4x cannons and 4x turrets and without the EPS consoles the weapon power level would be unsustainable.

You're missing out. Pop dual heavies fore, turrets aft (torps or not up to you), and make proper use of your tac skills and engineering bridge officers. You'll rip through Borg easy and have Federation ships exploding in no time.
