Speaking as a Klingon captain if my tactical officer dropped cloak every time he gave me an update he'd soon have a disruptor hole where his stomach use to be. I realize this is a game mechanic but theres no reality in it.:D

It's actually bug that Cryptic added to the game and has utterly failed to repair.

    It's a bug that's been in play since Jan 13th, 2011....

Apparently, the Dev team lacks the skill or simply refuses to fix it, since it's been over a year, and dozens of threads about it later and it's still F.U.B.A.R...

Maybe you have to report it in-game. Again, and again, and again, and again...

To hear thats its a bug and then reading the links provided Its a shame to Cryptic to allow this to mar the game. Can we work around it by timing our cloaking better, yes. But theres always the chance of an untimed moment when a notice will pop you out of hiding at a critical moment. I'll use my first tutorial "Chasing Ghosts" as an example. Having no experiance at cloaked fighting and also having to deal with unexpected exposures I had to quit the tutorial for a few levels and go out and learn how to use a broken cloak system before trying it again. Once I had the trick mastered I came back and was able to make it work but why did I have to when the tutorial should have been a training lesson?

So say that like we haven't done this already and haven't gotten an official answer, which is "yeah it's a bug and since we can't fix it we declare it to be working as intended".

Fixing the "bug" would require actual development time spent on KDF. I haven't heard any ruckus about the Defiant Refit cloak not working...

I have, same as the Gal-X.
    They're not working either.

I think jbgronin means the cloak.
And yes there are episodes where they used the term "cloaking shields" in TNG
("A Matter of Honor", "The Emissary") so technically it's a correct term.:)

Because it is a bug and is not intended. What possible reason could it be intended? To **** off customers needlessly?

Those who have read both the engineering reports and the patch notes, will know why...

It's getting a little repetitive to constantly repeat why, especially since everyone is locked into the misconception that it is a bug.

Let's stop calling it bug. And instead "inane feature that no player ever wanted". That makes it a feature, working as intended. But still explains perfectly well that we don't want it.

The inability to use science powers together with the B'rel ebc was supposed to be fixed this week, hopefully it will be and not be postponed indefinitely.

It is a bug, that is 59 weeks old. Even stated by the devs who attempted to do a complete fix for it. Since their fix completely failed to resolve the issue, they pretty much have done nothing about it.

Regardless of the 1000's of tickets, and hundreds of threads.

Make no mistake it is a bug. Meaning its effect was not intended in any way. It is NOT a new/old/featured Game Mechanic. THe bug occured after a specific patch and was not an intended effect. This was stated by Cryptic who atttempted to fix the issue.

Unfortunately, Like most of hte KDF issues, that some are a year plus old, it is being ignored simply because the KDF does not make up the "majority" of their customer base. Meaning if the FED players screamed about it, it would probably be looked at again. Hey dont like that line, tough, history clearly shows that when the fed side calls out "foul" things are nerfed/fixed/changed on a much quicker response time then most KDF issues.

For those of you who dont think this is not an issue? Go get your favorite cloaking fed ship, and go into the gorn fleet action, just to name one :) see how you like decloaking randomly with the popups and suddenly in a fight with 30+ ships when you thought you were safely cloaked and hiding. And that is just one example, their are several several more examples in many missions.

Meaning the cloak is NOT working as intended. It is well documented, noted as a bug by Cryptic themselves, yet 59 weeks later, its still broke.

Can we pay the fed to complain about it?

Imma lock them in an asteroid with my Subspace Snatch console until they promise to submit a bug ticket on this issue.

Little known fact: Not all maps are affected by this bug. (And the stated reason it is not fixed is that it depends on the map; fixing it completely requires touching every map in the game.)

The next tactical officer who does this will be strapped to the bow of the ship just before our next atmosphere re-entry.
