Two years. For Two years I warned you this day was coming, but you would not listen. Pride, you said, presumption. And now the Tholians are on the move. Klingon and the younger worlds are at war, the Orions have fallen, even the Romulans are fighting one another. The pride was yours, the presumption was yours. For a thousand years, we have been awaiting the fulfillment of prophecy. And when it finally happens, you scorn it, you reject it because you no longer believe it yourselves. "We stand between the candle and the star, between the darkness and the light." You say the words but your hearts are empty, your ears closed to the truth. You stand for nothing but your own petty interests. "The problems of others are not our concern." I do not blame you for standing silent in your shame. You, who knew what was coming, but refused to take up the burden of this war. If the Tactical Officers will not fight, then the rest of us will. The council has lost it's way. If it will not lead, if we have abandoned our covenant with the Great bird of the Galaxy then the council shall be broken by My Win!
We do not believe in any individual dev or devs but rather, we believe that the player character is, um - What is a good term? A non-localized phenomenon of My Win!
Plain, old human stubbornness, I guess. When something we value is destroyed, we rebuild it. If it's destroyed again, we rebuild it again. And again, and again, and again - until it stays. That, as poet Tennyson once said, is the goal: "To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield My Win!"
There are moments when we all become someone else, something other than what we are. It takes only a moment. But we spend the rest of our lives looking back at that moment in My Win!
Yes, you have lost much, endured much, sacrificed greatly but you cling to the memory of your sacrifices of all the things you have lost or left behind. They drag behind you like chains of your own making. They can have a terrible power over you, the power of grief, and loss, and of regret. Yes, you can let go of the people, places and things, but you have not let go of the pain. You have not forgiven yourself for losing The Win to me.
Both too young to know anything about anything. We could only feel and wonder what it all meant. But you recall correctly. I did start it then, poor and groping for meaning. It has matured and changed over the years. I finally knew that it was ready last month. Today is the day of My Win!
