Is this intended to be used such that when you find an assignment, you post in this spreadsheet, and then delete the post when the timer is up? Because I think the global chat channels do that already. If that's not how it's intended to be used, then how? That looks like the way it's supposed to work based on the rules. I just don't get why I would want to use this spreadsheet when I can look in channel and find stuff anyways. I mean, clearly people have found it useful, based on the "I was here" section, but I just don't get it.

Essentially it cuts down on the "any x up this reset" or "what's good for x" questions. You want to know what's up in any given reset, just look at the spreadsheet.

It cuts down on spam, and it's a start to move in a direction that people can know what's out there without moving around too much themselves.

The chat works fine, but when people ask the same "What's out there" question every 5 minutes, well, we need a simpler way for people to just look to see whats out there :)

Liking this.. one thing this does need though is if a colonisation mission is in Space or on a Bridge.. If it's in Space then anyone should see it, Bridge's are a little more tricky.

Great idea. Been looking into doing this for Doffjobs but I am not on STO enough to manage it. Been managing a similar sheet among friends for Red Alerts for awhile now.

Yeah being able to add a B or something should be included in the template so people know to place that if it shows on a bridge, versus open space as expected.

This is a great resource and especially useful for when I first sign on, or switch between characters.

Used it for the first time last night, and was wondering how the spreadsheet is to be cleared at the end of each cycle.

    Manually... :D

i have created the thing and not cleared it once...
with 40-50 acitve users at all times there is always someone around who clears it.

the good thing is that it is all manual, so Cryptic has no reason to kick it like they did with the IRC bot the guys in the REDALERT channel made a few months back. (which i thought was a cool thing to have)

the good thing is, even if you are out of game you can keep an eye on it when you need a certain assignment in the doff chain.

the Bridgeparties... mmmh those usually take only 5 minutes, so it's better to keep that in the chat channel while actively playing i think.
also Heretic confirmed that it's a BUG that Bridges show something else at times,
it's intended that they show the same thing as space.

so, enjoy it while you can, it will go away.
anyway if you want to put you bridgeparty in the spreadsheet, i won't stop you, just make sure to add your @handle so people know who to ask and to remove it once your bridgeparty is over. i don't really see that as usefull, but i won't stop you if you want to do it like that.

the cool thing about it is that it is so open, everybody can add functionality to it...
i started this spreadsheet 2 days ago and after 24 hours it looked completely different already and people added stuff that i didn't even think off before, so thumbs up to you guys!

and personally i have to say that in the DOFFJOBS chat channel is a lot of off topic talk going on, which is fine with me, but it's easy to miss an assignment you need in the chatter, even while in game i tab out and look at my personal progress spreadsheet (which i NEED with 8 chars doing the chains ;P )

also anyone who just logs in and asks something like "hey any active resettles?" i just give him the link, so no need to tell everyone who asks every 5 minutes.

this thing really has multiple purposes, it just depends how you use it.

Nice work CaptBANG. I greatly appreciate this. As it is, I spend a ton of time trolling for colonial chains and doing nothing else in game. The cool downs seem insane and I have been largely stalled for the last 3 weeks. This is even checking 3 cycles a day.

This does bring me to question the nature of the chain missions. If the "Establish First In Colony" is available in Delta Volanis, then is it universally avaialbe for everyone at that stage in the chain?

Does anyone mins marking "---" or something in cells where we know the mission is not? I propose this only for those who are keeping close track of their progress and know what mission should pop for them. If it is not there, then that is a datum point as well.

I think the spreed sheet has been a really great idea.

I wouldn't go through and mark anything as definitely NOT being available in a certain sector since in most cases, once you take into account personal cool downs, it could be quite misleading.

Thanks, I forgot about personal cool downs. I really wish we had a better in game tracker for this. I really have been chasing every single Exploration sector for over a month. I have fond only a few relevant missions since just before the holidays.

It has been my experience if the assignment is in sector space.. and you didn't fudge a bridge to get it, then if any one else is at the same point in the chain, they will see it as well.

Did someone change the formatting? It looks... bad.. now...

Or is it just my computer?

EDIT: Ah, nevermind, I see "Viewing in simple list mode due to high traffic to this document." now... dislike...

Thanks to this sheet, I can now watch the "Establish Military Base" mission that I have needed in the Rolor Nebula slowly tick away for 1 more minute. I won't be home for another 30 minutes. :(

yes i ran into this too, sadly there is nothing i can do about it.

on day 1 someone in the chat channel (stupid me did not write down the name :-/ ) said that he wanted to make a little website out of this with a bit more automation (like automatically clearing the list every 4 hours).
i hope the guy is still on it, because if this *thing* gets any bigger i don't think that google will do a sufficient job...

i really really hate that *simple* view

    //EDIT:

just wanted to let you know that i updated the formatting of the spreadsheet today, so that it looks way less sucky in this "simple mode"
removed those empty lines and did a few more things to it...

This is a great spread sheet. How can I be a contributer to this. I have noticed a lot of the lower leve stuff never shows up. I type into the sheet where I found a mission but it never seems to stay.
