Started both a tactical and engineering klingon. Now that they start at level 20, commander, it gives me the tier 3 BoP no matter what class I pick (tactical, engineer, science). I really wanted to start my engineer with the D7 cruiser, but it will not allow me. The cost to buy it is 40k dilitium. By the time I have that much dilithium, I will be Captain rank at least. So, what is the purpose of any klingon ship below the tier of captain now that klingon characters start at level 20 commander and can only start with the raider BoP?

I take it you never played klingon pre-change?
Klingons started in B'rel bird of prey now they are doing the same but with the LTCMDR BoP. consider yourself lucky you didn't have to level to 20.
Never played pre-change, but I wish I had. I would have loved to start from (now) level 0 and worked up just like the Federation characters, and I wish that Klingon characters had all of the ships from which to choose. I consider the change starting Klingon players at level 20 and forcing them all to start with the same ship a move in the wrong direction.
OK, now I am very confused. The first Klingon I created was tactical, and it seems he has a ship credit, so I can by another commander level ship; however the second character I created was engineer, and he does not have the credit. I want the cruiser for my engineer and not my tactical, but I am presuming the ship credit only goes to the first klingon character you create?

I just built a Klink' toon that is at Commander 21. At the shipyards, I can by a K'tinga with a ship token that I have, I also believe theres a Raptor class there too.

Again, my first toon can, but my second toon cannot. Unfortunately, I want the K'tinga for the second toon which who is an engineer.

Personally, I consider myself lucky that I DID get to play L1-20. I hate having half of the game taken away from me while being told it's somehow more content.
As I said elsewhere, I refuse to play my Klingon anymore. He's had half of his career taken away from him.
The cynic in me says this is a temporarything until they finish re-drafting some Fed content for KDF.
I imagine wirth the F2P model they don;t want any of the new guys trying out the KDF side until they are well established as players. Most people experiencing the paucity of content KDF side would rapidy ditch the game.
Longer term I am certain they will restore new KDF players to a lower level where these otehr vessels can once again have meaning.
Have you done the mission for running around Qo'Nos? After that J'pok will call on you and you should get the ship token then. That is my best guess.
That is what happened. I went to the ship vendor before getting "officially" promoted by the chancellor, so the token was not there yet. All resolved now. Thanks for the responses.

Exactly what I was thinking. If you've done as many sortie runs as me, you would have already gone crazy.
Getting back on topic, players should get a lot more free options (no c-store and no dilithium charges) than just the regular BOP at level 20 or at level 1, later on down the road. I didn't realize D7's now cost Dilithium, and that doesn't make me happy. We shouldn't be penalized for wanting variety. If you want to improve the Klingon faction, start now by listening to us. Anyways, that's my 2 cents.

I completely agree. New KDF characters are not set up for failure because of this! Why?
Not able to earn credits and honor points in the intervening levels. The inital tutorial bonuses are hardly compensation.
Players do not have time to learn the nuances of playing KDF characters of each career before getting dumped into mid game. This is especially true for KDF Sci officers, and for BOP play.
Who are Fed Players suppose to PvP with from Lt. 5 to Commander? Just each other? That only serves to further undermine KDF participation!
My solution is this: PKDF characters should continue to start at Lt. Level 5, and start out with the equipment that originally given at that level. On starting the game, the battle master will ask the character if this is his/her first time in the ring. Yes results in the tutorial mission that introduce the character to the KDF side fo the house. Completion of this string of missions would level up the character to LT. Commander 1, and Mk 4 versions of the new starting equipment. Those who say no, it is not my first time get to dive straight into the game with PvP, exploration, Featured Episode, and Defense missions.

This is a very good idea. I think I mentioend earlier that the intention with this is to 'hide' the desperate shortage of KDF content from new F2P players. No doubt many of them weill have a v short attention span and grindsing a near infinite number of PvP matches to level will not appeal. If the KDF content ever developes this aspect may some day return.
BoP play is a lot harder than people tend to think and I totally agree that those early experiences really matter for making a quality player. De-skilling of the KDF is one of my fears for the future post PvP. Teh current player base is mainly a highly experienced and quite determined group of people.

You know, I keep hearing that, and when I've used my BOP in PvP, its not all that hard. Set up you attack (preferably with friends), go in decload, unload, scoot, cloak, rinse lather repeat.

Oh for some people it is easy - then again so is an FPS model. And for other old men with the reaction times of an addled sloth it is hard and frustrating. I am in the latter category.

Some players (I was one of them once) think that the B'Rel Tier 1 BOP is just like a Miranda. It is not despite similar stats. People also might mistakenly believe that they will have the same number of BOFF slots as any federation ship except in universal slots. Most KDF players will quickly point out this falicy. While some are quick to pick up BOP play, other will not and will default to Federation style play based on their BOFF layout(with devistating consequences). By having new KDF players do the tutorial (maybe with a few PVE space battles in the mix), when they get to Lt. Commander 1, they have the option to default to escort or crusier types that they might be more comfortable with.
You need to do the tutorial arc of missions for first city (which are really there to teach you where everything is! So please do them! AANd use you M key for map. Your map will always show the area you need to go to next)
Chaancellor J'mpok will give you a token you can take to the ship yard to get a different Tier 3 ship. If you have a paid account there is a FREE tier 3+1 Raptor availible to you (though possibly not for much longer so claim it while you can if your elgible) If you are a F2P player I belive this is the only FREE ship token you will recieve. All other ships after the first will be either Dilithium purchases or C-Store purchases.
I strongly recommend that if you are a F2P member thet you take your token and get a K'tinga batlecruiser
as this will save you MUCH grief as the K'Tinga is a very usefull and able ship and can hold its own even at leveel 50 play with the decent gear equipped. If you find as a F2P player on KDF faction that you want to avoid spendding money to by C-STore points to trade for diithium to by normal ships with then taking the K'tinga is the best bang for your buck.
