Why are Klingon Bridge Officers so Expensive?

I just started playing as a Klingon character today and it's really annoying that I can't just go to the Exchange and buy a new bridge officer for a Klingon ship for the same low cost as a Federation officer.

When I play as a Fed I can get bridge officers for next to nothing at the Exchange but as a Klingon all the officers are way too expensive to be able to afford unless you've been playing the game for a long time or find and in-game cheat.

The price of Klingon officers doesn't make sense ... I mean, Klingons can just enslave officers from other ships. There's an idea: A new Klingon mission where you raid an Orion slaver base and acquire your choice of 10 new bridge officer candidates at no cost.

It used to be the other way round. For most of summer and fall 2011 non-purple Klingon BOs cost ~ 20% or so of what a comparable fed would cost.

Since the exchange is limited to 2 weeks it is Its all a matter of current demand and supply. My personal guess is that since people now all start at Commander, they directly go for a blue set, thus lowering the supply. Another guess is that since people now have more choice when getting BOs there is less tendency to unload those they get on the Exchange; they rather stock them up.

Klingon Bridge Officers are not that expensive; however, the Klingon Bridge Officers with highly useful skills are quite expensive.

Another thing to consider is the fact that KDF players now start at the commander level and have less opportunity to acquire new Bridge Officers upon leveling up like the Feds have.

My question to you would be what quality of Bridge Officer are you trying to purchase?

I know for a fact the you can go to the Exchange and pick up 5 green quality KDF BO for less than 10k

You can also pick up 5 blue quality KDF BO for less than 100k

You can pick up 5 purple quality BO for under 2mil (depending on their skills or if their Orion Females)

KDF Bridge Officers that have sought after skills will always cost 2-3 million more than a Federation Bridge Officer with the same skills because there are less KFD players than Fed thus less chance for these BO to be acquired there.

Purple quality Orion Females will always go for big numbers because of their popularity and their costume options so I your hunting for them anything under 5 million is a bargain.

If you want Efficient Letheans be prepared to spend anywhere between 12-50 million for them.

KDF Bridge Officers have always cost more than Fed and that trend will more than likely continue until the KDF player base has about the same numbers has the Fed.

    Good Hunting

Actually, thanks to the Doff system, bridge officers have come down in price dramatically. This is especially true for Orion females thanks to the choice system combined with the Doff system.

I think that Klingons are more expensive simply because there are much fewer Klingon players and thus there is not a glut of purple bridge officers from recruitment successes like there are for the Federation.

Yeah, Klingon purple boffs have come down in the last year in the exchange. I stopped trading in them because the margin just wasnt consistantly there anymore. The DOFF system has really worked to curb supply/demand issues for Klingons.

As far as I can tell, purple quality orion females don't have different costume options than any other orion...or am I missing something?

Would you really trust slaves in key points of your ship?

People do not want to waste bridge officer slots for common officers.

I think this was simply an example of a very expensive option - being desirable both cosmetially and practically.

The cheapest very rare science KDF females were 4-5 million last time I checked. I had to settle for two rares that cost me about 100,000 each Q_Q.

The KDF officers are probably super expensive just by virtue of the fact that there are less Klingon players, although I could be wrong.
