We will be bringing the Tribble server down for maintenance to apply a new update.
ST.17.20111218a.6

EDIT: Added a known issue.

General:
  • It is once again possible to rename your ships in the status window.
  • The skill window will now display how many points have been spent in each tier, and the points required to unlock the next tier.
  • The galaxy map should no longer open and be zoomed in so closely.
  • Chat Channel Admin: the rows for Member info and Member Status are now correctly aligned with the other columns.
  • The skills window filter list is now working as intended.
  • Anesthizine Gas power now appears on the Contributing Highlights dropdown.
  • The Department and Specialization listings for duty officers no longer display identically for any duty officer selected.

Systems:
  • The max number of points you can spend in Space and Ground skills has been increased.
    • Effectively, there are more "floater points" now.
  • The bonus you get from Space Hull Plating, Space Armor Reinforcements, and Ground Armor Skills has been increased.
  • The Ground Armor skill now also improves all Armor enhancements from higher-quality items.
    • This includes Armor shield and health buffs, armor procs, and other non-damage resistance armor bonuses.

Known Issue:
  • Players currently at the skill cap are not bumped up to the new skill cap.

By how much? With Mk XI Polyweave, and 6 ranks in Ground Armor, I noticed my total resists increasing by only 3 to 4 percent. This did not seem worth it. It would be nice to know ahead of time how much gain we get out of each skill rank/point.

more 'floater points' is a good thing, as it allows more of the customizing we had before, and puts less of a strain on those who were all space before :)

seems like a good compromise to me :) great work as always

Any fix in that bag of goodies for Klingons trying finish the initial D'Vak / Omega Force mission?

Feds are fine, but when Klingons get the hail from D'Vak it says to find him in the First City, he is obviously not there, so most go to DS9 but when you go to talk to him the mission does not conclude, since he does not talk to you about your free requisition.

This problem appeared before for the winter break, and Im sure there is a least a few bug reports on it.

    Thanks
    :)

The skill point cap is increasing by how many points? Will we have even a new grade to achieve, like Vice Admiral 51 or 52 instead of just 50? Possibly a chance to get guaranteed MK XI drops in scaling missions instead of MK X / XI mix?

It's not increasing with this build -- it increased when we made the ground skill changes. :)
And to answer your question, no, there's no new rank. The SP cap was 72,750, now it's 73,200.

On a seperate note I recall seeing an increase in STF loot drop percentages make it to Tribble ooooh....a month ago? HAs this passed to Holodeck yet? Just wondering as it never made it into patch notes.

It would be in the Holodeck patch notes if so. Without culling through the patch notes myself, I'm gonna say no, I don't think it has. But it's possible I'm wrong. :)

Just did so myself actually. Apparently it went in on the 15th. Thanks for the reply anyway :-)

Two things about the skill UI:
    • The BOFF skill UI's ground skills are in a blue box rather than the brown box like player ground skills
    • The player's skills show up in the UI if your ship is selected when on the skill tab (at least in space)

Struck the original paragraph I see what is going on, max cap is still 366K and the Max Space 300K and Max Ground 100K are just the maximum points you can SPEND on that part of the tree not the maximum points that are OBTAINABLE. You might want to find a clearer way in the UI to illustrate this to players as it is rather cryptic...

P.S. I do like that ground skills have a different color in the UI but brown????

P.P.S. Skill Points for DOFF missions have not been adjusted to the new point scheme, at least in the Mission Selection UI.

P.P.S.S. Alt-tabbing on Tribble can cause the game to lockup and not become responsive when you alt-tab back (I just get a black screen now and nothing returns, had to force-shutdown the game from task manager - sound was still working).

Alright. the free floating Skill points with the limit of 300,000 for space, and 100,000 for ground doesn't.... hurt as bad. Has good premise, but needs some more Tweeking to be honest. Has promise. But I might suggest Making it so that the skills are Rebalanced.

100,000 for ground seems a bit much. What I am thinking is that perhaps Increasing the Skill cap.

Another way to do it would be to once rebalanced it. Perhaps Rebalanced it so that Space gets 325,000 and ground 75k.

It is on it's way to being a good skill system. as I said it is looking good, Just needs some more Tweaking.

I gotta say no to that. 92k was hard enough for ground, at 75k we wouldn't be able to use Captain skills, let alone Admiral. I think 300k/100k is a good compromise.

In the Current skill point system, we should be able to go up to level 55, it doesn't matter about the content. STF's make up for that, since some of the ships are level 52/53 etc
