Torpedoes in the water...with plenty of Q's...

Question for the number crunchers out there. So I come back to the game and there's these nifty torpedoes out there...the Hargh'Peng and the Bio-Neural...how are these for damage? Are they worth using over conventional torpedoes? Should I pick one and not the other? Do they benefit from +torpedo consoles? Specific ones? How about as a Tactical captain vs say a Science one?

I kinda like the idea of the exotic torpedoes...have had great fun (albeit limited) with the Bio-Neural, and, especially for the science toon I'm leveling, I like not feeling like I have to include a torpedo related skill for my tac BO and the options that gives, but, I don't want to gimp myself if these are situational useful gimmicks rather than genuinely viable weapons...so. Where do they stand?

And an ALMOST unrelated question, but. Cannon scatter volley vs torpedo spread. Obviously both AoE skills, but. Does one trump the other? And, is one more potent than the other if used vs a single target?

Ok... Please try to make your questions a little more concise next time but I will try my best to answer what I perceive as your query.

The Bio-Neural is just a Tricobalt with some shields and turret-like guns. It is not that good thanks to its ungodly cooldown. It is more or less a toy. I believe the generalized Tactical Consoles effect both it and the Hargh'pengs. So go for Warhead Yield consoles.

Neither Torp works with BOFF abilities.

Hargh'pengs are BEST used on vessels who have a low number of Tactical BOFF abilities. Federation Cruisers and Science Vessels/Carriers tend to be best off using 'Pengs. The Hargh'Peng does deal some notable damage and its Damage Over Time effect as well as its AoE blast is very respectable. I swear by their power for ships who cannot waste BOFF slots on High Yield or Spread.

Scatter Volley is best at killing the shields of multiple small ships or getting Procs from your energy weapon to hit. Torp Spread is best at killing the hulls of multiple small ships. The problem with this inquiry is that it is an Apples to Oranges question. Neither is better than the other because they are used for two completely different tasks. Scatter Volley followed by Torp Spread is the most ideal circumstance.

Bio-Neural warheads may have an ungodly cooldown, but they have a MUCH higher likelyhood of hitting their target, and the extra damage from its AP turret is nothing to turn your nose up at.

It is ok Vs. fighter craft but it is not exactly staggering to a real ship. The fact that they are sooooooo slooooooow when moving through space and that they alert the enemy by SHOOTING them tends to make them blow up long before they reach their target. They are mediocre in PvE and worthless in PvP against any sort of reasonable player. They might be ok if they could be equipped to a BoP (Looking at you Br'el Refit), Fighter, or a Carrier but I believe they only work for Raptors or Destroyers which are sooooooo much better off with real Torps.

I actually do run mine on a B'Rel.
They pretty much shine in STF's where enemies have a lot of health and the cover fire for the torpedo isnt enough to pop them in an instant.
That said they are pretty decent in PvP too, particularly in furballs.

Not exactly if you are firing 10 shots during CSV but you have 3 targets in the cone each target is going to get hit 3times with one getting the a 4th. CSV is good against spam moderately good against 1 target. CRF is still the best single dps buff their is for cannons. Actually turrets with CRF proc more often.

Just to inform people the Bio Neural torpedo is equipable on raiders, and all Bird of Prey classed ships are thrown into the Raider class ship type. This weapon has a custom turret/cannon with a high rate of fire and a decent base damage for the weapon and add onto it that its an antiproton damage type means that the proc of the weapon is increased crit damage and crit chance(assuming the weapon proc is added to the weapon). Often times durring PVE this weapons will one shot a frigate grade ship just from being fired at it when you engage something else due to the turret striping the shield facing and the weapon impacting against the hull.
