Ok ... Debating grabbing the Varanus-class for my Gorn while it is on sale.

Anyone with experience flying it want to share your thoughts on it?

Ended up getting it anyway because I want to build a support character.

Will let people know my thoughts after I've had time in these ships.

Especially if you get some of the previous ships in its line it can be quite fun. With the Phalanx Shield and Aceton Assemelator going you can wreak some real havoc. The platforms can hide you and your friends making it able to all but cloak when not in combat and the healing drones can really help keep you and your friends alive. Besides that it looks real cool and can have some nice tricks. Never forget to spam platforms.

My Varanus in action in Mirror Event.

I just got mine, so i wouldn't know much, but i think the nacelle pylons should be moved a bit so they fit more with that hollowed out area.

    Hi,

I have one for my engineer and build it up so it knows how to take hits. I equipped it only with turrets with CSV to create a fireworks effect, and I use it in PvP to jump right into the Fed packs and heal KDF players. Once the heal is done, I run away. My build really has no firepower.

I pushed the support function to the extreme. This was especially true at the time when the skill tree was such that I did not put any points at all in torpedoes and beams. With the current skill tree, you can't push to one side as much.

It's a different and fun way to play. Not much use in PvE. I've had many thanks from KDF players whose life bar was low and suddenly see a Varanus pop in to heal them.

It can definitely do what its name says and play hardcore "Support" if you want it to. I have mine set up to be able to dish it out and heal. It is meant to cripple and confuse its enemies while draining them dry of all their important power... especially to engines and shields LOL... Meanwhile my platforms and other tricks keep my buds alive. They love me in RA's, PvP, and Mirror Universe runs.
