"Added to my list of feedback."

Hello Captains!

Many of you may have missed my intro thread where I briefly explained what this phrase meant, but since you have been seeing more and more of it, I thought I would explain again :)

When I post "added to my list of feedback", it means that I've passed along the constructive feedback in the particular thread to the Development Team so that they can consider what we all think about certain aspects; this does not mean that something is guaranteed to be changed or implemented. Even if something is not forwarded by me, that does not mean it is not being looked over either.

I have to remind you all that I am not a Dev -- I have no direct say in what gets put into the game, changed, or taken out. What I do have is a direct link to pass along your feedback, ideas, dreams and aspirations. I am also here to post the latest news, provide you new information, host community events, and aid in maintaining a great space for us to be able to communicate with each-other.

With that said, I also would like to remind you all that I am a dedicated player of STO (playing almost every day since Closed Beta) and a life-long Trekker. Like you, I am extremely passionate about this game and want to see it become the best it can be :) Together, we can make that happen. It won't happen overnight, but if we stick together, keep giving suggestions, providing specific and constructive feedback, it can and will happen.

Cheers,

Brandon =/\=

EDIT: I should also mention that there are some sub-forums that are more closely watched by particular Devs (e.g. Heretic with the DOFF forum, mhighson with the Art forum, Farktoid5000 with the Gameplay Bugs forum etc). Due to this, I will periodically move threads from one section of the forum to another to ensure that the right Dev sees them. These forums/ threads will also see less "added to my list of feedback" posts because they are already actively looked at by the team.

I'm actually starting to imagine Brandon affixing little fortune cookie style forum feedback slips of paper on everything from the underneath of stolen Zynga Coffee Cups (o/ Dan) and on overhead ceiling fans and onto door handles. Stephen D'angelo hasn't yet realized that some of the photo frames in his office now contains these slips.

    What I'm seeing is...

..The Best Offense is a Good Defense...

Essentially, Our "Man-On-the-Ground" has just told Us that he has no more say in what matters to us about the game...,

    ... than We do.

The only difference is that He is getting paid to listen to Our 'concerns' and we (at the moment) get to pay, to voice them.

Very Little has changed to the players advantage since Season 5 landed...

But Much has been Clairfied... <cough> DENIED <cough>

And We can thank BranFlakes for informing Us of those 'Clarifications'.

I image Bran's more of the Uhura of the good ship Cryptic. He's relying our concerns to the appropriate channels, but it's up to them whether or not it's important. Say for instance something like "We're running low on Dilithium" is said on the forums, but over at Cryptic something along the lines of "Klingon warships off the starboard bow captain!"

Point being, he's the message man.

I think it would be nice if someone would make a list to track these issues and the progress that is made.

I kinda feel sorry for Brandon. It is very seldom that you see a ship sinking and then jump on it. There must be something on this ship that he is trying to save before it reaches the bottom.

Brandon, thanks for the clarification. Is there any possibility that we could get feedback on our feedback as it were on occasion? Hearing which of our concerns that the dev team is taking seriously, which ones they're likely to act on soon / in the future / never would be very nice.

Right now it seems like our feedback goes into a black hole and we don't really know what becomes of it. Hearing for instance "we understand that the community dislikes aspects X & Y of the new STF system, and we plan to do something in the undefined future to address these concerns" would go a very long way in making your customers happy and feel valued.

You don't have even give a hint as to what the something is (though we will of course love it when you can) but simply knowing that some action is going to be taken in a particular area would go a very long way towards quelling the raging mobs.

Unfortunately, most of what he has been able to 'confirm' lately...

Has been to the 'detriment ' of the game (in some peoples opinions).

I don't know of anyone that expects anything overnight from this team. Except fixes to exploits.
Too bad the same attention isn't turned to bugs/ polish. I still don't face the correct way when I go from Alpha sector block to Regulus. I'm not asking for anything overnight, but you'd think after two years some of this stuff would get fixed/ polished.

Now that you've created this stickied thread, before it gets too far off track, could you please update this thread regularly with responses you get from the developers? Feedback to our feedback? Obviously, I don't expect a response to everything. But this would be a great place to refer back to for any responses.

    This...
Often, reported bug or issues go seemly unnoticed by Dev due to a complete lack of response.
Often, just a simple post saying "this is under investigation" or "we are aware of this and are looking into it"
or even a "There are no plans to change this at this time" would keep many pacified when it come to many of the posted issues or feedback offered.
Even a unfavorable response is better than no response at all...then it just seems like the issues/suggestion etc is simply being ignored.

I appreciate what you have done in attempting to get answers to questions and creating a list of feedback. But the updates you have given us to-date have actually not been related the questions/feedback the community gave you. When you make a post saying "added to my list of feedback" can you also give some indication that you truly understand what we are saying?

I can think of a few cases off-hand where the updates you gave to us doesn't actually apply to the feedback that was given. In one case, telling you that actually got the thread closed for some reason. You risk disenchanting the community you are trying to support if we can't follow what you are saying, and I don't want to see your effort go to waste.

Thanks for the info Brandon. It does seem since you've taken over as Community Liason, that we've seen more posts than we did with the previous one. So that's good, and I do like your little "Added to my list" posts. It's reassuring that "someone is listening."

But more is not always better, and the reassurance gets less, if the replies do not actually address the grievance. My hope is that you and the Devs will get better at understanding us while we get better at expressing our concerns. Here's hoping... :o

That's one of my biggest pet peeves. Man I wish they'd fix that...

The important thing to remember when Brandon adds something to feedback lists is that not all developers are active forum-hunters. Thus, Brandon can make sure that issues go to the various developers and designers who may be able to address them, or answer questions about them, even if that developer didn't see the original request or query in the first place.

This is all we can ask for,
so thanks for TAKING THE TIME when you forward something to the Dev's that you actually tell us about it (even if it's a copy and paste text),
i know this has not been done in the past by other *Moderators* and if we don't know that something is forwarded we usually think it's not even looked at. -> and feeling ignored is never good thing, especially if you think that what you have to say is important.

And i am sure if you have actual answers to something you will also post a full response to those... if you are allowed to etc. pp.

lol I actually asked because I can't stand it. I once chewed out someone for 10 minutes for ending an email with "cheers". Obviously when he addresses us it's in a good, festive environment, this is a video game and is much different than a corporate environment so I don't hold anything against him. It's just it's been a peeve of mine ever since.

Hey Brandon, can you poke at someone to fix the Galaxy-X/Venture-X Nacelle option issue (One of the three nacelles is linked to the Hull option, rather than Nacelle)? It's a pet peeve of mine at the moment.
