KDF Marauding is terrific

I am loving the Duty Officer System.

In particular, I got two of my KDF characters to Tier 3 - Pirate in the Marauding Commendation Field, so they can now transwarp to Regulus Sector Block, go into Sirius Sector Block at will, give other KDF players Marauding status, engage in the cross-faction Space Incursions by the Borg into Sirius Sector Block for an extra accolade and Daily, AND get even more Duty Officer Assignments in:

Sirius Sector Block,

Delta Volanis Cluster,

Risa System, and

Risa planetside.

Ooooo, Risa is nice. Your KDF character can buy Entertainment Provisions and Seismic Stabilizers commodities there, can lounge on the beach, and, in true Klingon fashion:

SLAUGHTER THE NATIVES AND TOURISTS !!!! Qapla' :)

Hurry up, KDF, get to Tier 3 in Marauding, and join in on the MASSACRE before Cryptic either prevents KDF from being able to kill the Risan NPCs, or blocks Risa from the KDF completely :(

P.S. Who says Cryptic neglects the KDF? Marauding in the Duty Officer System ramps up KDF gameplay to 11 !!! ;)

More than likely the plan is to drop a bunch of copy and paste of open pvp. Like they originally planned. Unless we get suprised and some actual thought and work gets put into marauding after you get it to tier 3. Honestly though who cares about accolades... half the ones on the kdf side cannot even be obtained without the foundry and those missions are being banned not to mention ones like the nausicaan killing one that you cannot even do in the foundry. I hope you are being sarcastic because I obviously do not see any worth in the marauding title beyond being able to get to DS9 faster.

    No sarcasm at all.

I'm talking about gameplay, not titles or accolades (besides the Borg Invasion which also gives dilithium in a Daily). In addition to the fun I mentioned on Risa, there is also the fact that you can cut across sectors faster by being able to go through Sirius Sector Block as well as transwarp capabilities, which will help with the upcoming DS9-centered Featured Episodes.

Also, more Duty Officer Assignments means getting better Duty Officers.

The merits of having better duty officers belongs in another thread and forum category, but briefly, certain gameplay skills may be obtained such as tractor beams with shield draining advantages, as well as reduced torpedo recharge times by using certain duty officers in Active Duty slots.

There are many advantages in PvP which can be obtained from the Duty Officer System, if PvPers would invest the time to obtain such valuable gameplay enhancements.

Accordingly, Marauding is not just a title or accolade.

Yeah pretty much a few extras on existing content and a little more ease for the moment is all that it is. Anyways hopefully it will be more of something I can view as a title/ability that I can truely get excited over.

You clearly do not appreciate the advantages to gameplay which I spelled out: PvP, and by the way, PvE, gameplay are enhanced by buffs and extra boosts to skills such as tractor beams and torpedo recharge time, to name just two examples.

If you only see Marauding and the rest of the Duty Officer System as just titles and accolades and "a few extras" as you say, there can be no further discussion with you.

Perhaps others will read my posts and see more than "just" titles and accolades.

Besides the mini game being a bit of fun, and the items you get from doing them really adding up fast, the added space and ground abilities can be huge. The first give away purple doff engineer is a really solid bonus to emergency batteries on space duty.

And KDF you get to execute the failures. Take THAT fed crybabies.

I'm actually trying to get marauding up to speed only first rank. Today I just had it and eliminated all common doff''s. we are going green and up. it took me down to 25 doffs so it has slowed down my missions, but its increased results. so lets see.

    cheers and happy doffing

Marauding definitely has a cool dynamic and really fits the klingon play style, just like diplomacy fits the federation's style. I think I'm still only rank 1 or 2 with my klink toons, though. Looking forward to rampaging Risa.

I'm getting close to executing many of my common doffs as well. Really would like to get to rank 4 on all the different categories soon, so I can buy purple doffs with dilithium for better stats on my space buffs.

I share your joy.... this option really makes you feel like you are out thre hassling the federation wusses and taking the war right to their doorsteps...

The only sad part about it is I would have hoped to find these things working as missions where you, the player, could actually go and do them.

You mean like the Feds can actually go an do Diplo missions?

I guess so. Hopefully in the longer term they plan to tie in new content to these paths, which would be very cool. Optionals and side quests such as we saw in the reman series for ambassadors.

I have my fingers crossed for this at least ;)

For what it's worth, the playable diplomacy missions are currently pointless since their payout is set to the old diplomacy system rather than the new doff version, so they're all still worth only 10 to 20 dxp.

Hopefully, when those are fixed, KDF will also get some playable marauding content, as well.

It might happen, however right now their approach seems to be that there is FDC and Diplo DOFF missions and the counterpart to both is the Marauding for KDF.
Knowing Cryptic it's more likely FDC gets fixed and that's it.

Just a question, what races do the KDF get to pick from for the Marauding Federation bridge officer reward?

I'm looking forward to hitting up Risa.

I'm really curious what species the BOs are.

Whatever they are, since the Marauding BOs wear off-duty uniforms, I'm slapping mine into a tux and will insist he's my butler.

I'll be really surprised if there actually are BOff rewards for Marauding. Has anyone reached T4 who can verify?

They're supposed to be in, as I understand it, and if not, Heretic has discussed them before and fairly recently as a done deal.

They're three (I think) Fed species that wear off duty uniforms as they're basically supposed to represent criminals from Federation worlds who join your crew.

I wish I knew what the species were. Really, I think it would be a nice show of faith in the KDF to give us a few options more than what the Feds get and maybe even throw in Caitians or Ferengi as an option since Fed get Gorn and the two kinda correspond as species that can't be replicated with a basic alien design.

Heck, I think my preferences would be:

Humans, Vulcans, Ferengi, Bajorans, and Custom Aliens. And if there must be balance with the Feds, give them Letheans and Custom Aliens as options too.

I prefer something more efficient, more productive. I'm like the Henry Ford of killing hapless beachgoers.

Except better, because I don't even care if you thought it was safe to go in the water.

I hit T4 on two KDF characters, and yes, there are BOFF candidate rewards.

The only selectable species are: Andorian, Ferengi, Human, and Trill.

Ugh, no Vulcans??? So no Vulcan female love slaves for my KDF crews, as a (Ferengi-inspired in DS9 TV series) KDF counterpart to the Orion slave women which the Feds have :(

Well, I was trying to decide between Vulcan and Andorian, and it seems Cryptic has made my choice for me.

For almost a year since any content came out... Getting samples in delta volboranis or going to risa doesn't exactly inspire me to want to be a marauder. Those abilities with skills yeah they can be helpful but they are nothing specific to the doff system which you clearly missed my point. I was expecting to be able to kill or take something besides annoying fed players by killing their commodity brokers on risa. Maybe I am not so easily amused. So far not too impressed with this season 5 just a lot of shiny things put in front of us that we cannot actually obtain imo.

I'm going Ferengi. The rest can be pretty effectively simulated with a custom alien.

Plus, if they ever allow BOs->Captain conversion, my dream is to play a KDF Ferengi.

If we can go to Risa and Kill Fed/KDF players, I say leave it be...

I can think of nothing i'd rather do than Grief KDF players on Risa. RnR indeed.

And if them killing a few NPC's makes them feel dangerous, I say go for it... it's not like anyone goes there for somthing important anyways.

My suspicion is that the intent is for Risa to serve as a neutral hub or not allow beaming at all.

Personally, I think it would be awesome as a neutral hub with a KDF-only Lirpa vendor, selling Lirpas and swords on par with the Shard Sword of Kahless. Also, maybe a recolored sehlat.

In turn, put together a KDF ground hub (maybe Ganalda Station) for Fed diplomats that sells Shard Sword of Kahless and Tegolars. Also, a recolored targ.

In turn, maybe look at adding additional rewards from these vendors for maxing out additional commendation categories.

(So maybe Feds get a Risian BOff on Risa for maxing development and Klingons get an Orion dancer with a seductive dance for an idle animation on Ganalda.)

I have seen and played plenty of new content in the past year and more, in addition to the Duty Officer System. The Duty Officer System is just another improvement to the game, and I think it is a vast improvement due to all the advantages gained from it.

I am up to my eyeballs in data samples, paticle traces, new ship devices to use or sell such as turret platforms, free BLUE or PURPLE bridge officers with valuable skills, etc. etc.

And I did not search for such data samples or particle traces in nebulae/star clusters ... they are the rewards from completed Duty Officer Assignments.

I got a bridge officer with Tractor Beam 3 AND Gravity Well 3 AND stasis field 3, and not from paying millions of energy credits to a gouger on the Exchange ... I got it FREE with a little time and luck from a Duty Officer assignment.

Those who do not know the rewards, or those who do not appreciate them or just dismiss them, cannot see value that is available.

Marauding is just an additional way for KDF to access such rewards ... more places for Duty Officer Assignments, and transwarp to get to those Assignments.
