A true man and boxing legend died Monday evening from liver cancer. Smokin Joe Frazier passed away at the age of 67 depriving the USA of one of its national icons. The 70's seemed to be the only point in history to witness some of the best boxers to ever grace the ring, men like Muhammad Ali, George Foreman, & Joe Frazier. Because we had men of this caliber and talent present during this decade it was no wonder their battles would go down in legend. The greatest of these battles was fought between Ali & Frazier at the Thrilla in Manila match, this is by far the best boxing match I have ever witnessed. Both men went on the offensive with Frazier's smothering style and famous left hoof vs Ali's lightning combos and ring speed. It was a back and forth match with Ali dominating the 1st and last half of the match and Frazier commanding the middle portion of the rounds. In the end with his eyes swollen shut Frazier in true Klingon fashion refused to go down and would've stepped out into the 15th and final round totally blind except his trainer Eddie Futch stopped the fight. In his own corner Ali instructed his trainer Dundee to cut his gloves off, Frazier quit just before Ali was prepared to do the same. I will always remember "Smokin Joe Frazier" "Sharp as a razor" a true legend, may he rest in peace.
