Additional variations within the Klingon species?

Hello,

we all know we're not supposed to ignore the differences in the appearance of the Klingons in TOS and later shows.
It was clearly indicated both in DS9 and "Enterprise" that this was visible to the characters in the shows as well.
According to the STO storyline the "cure" to the Augment virus' effects was delivered to the Klingons by the time-traveling B'Vat to the time before Star Trek 1.

So the "ridged" Klingons seen afterwards would not have received "cranial reconstruction" but would have received some kind of genetic treatment to reverse the effects of the Augment Virus.

However I noticed something add:
Klaa in Star Trek 5 was shown with his open vest and his chest looked very much like that of a human.

What was visible of Lursa's B'Etor's chest (emphasis on the part between the TRIBBLE) also looked very much human

but Kurn's chest looked more like the Klingon forehead: meaning it had either very large ribs
or another layer of bone "armor" above the equivalent of the human ribcage.

Does this indicate there are variations among the Klingons that are "even tougher" beyond the proverbial meaning of the term?

    Don't see why not.
Throwbacks to the earlier version of Klingons, possibly expressed on a genetic level in modern society.

I like the bumpy chest Klingons better, fits better with their natural body redundancy features. It also looks cooler, at least on the males on the females it could look grotesque. Hopefully they will make this a canon feature.

I am all for adding new species, and also some visual enhancements, to the existing set of KDF species. Whether it is new foreheads for Klingons, different body types for Gorn. Or even more costume choices. Feds have a lot more choice, than the KDF at the present time. Can we also see more choices in the racial traits as well.

If they are working on something like this, can we have a sneak peak.

More variations on the Klingon species would be a good thing.

I agree. more costuming options like forheads, Gorn variations and the like would rock.

I just realized something about Kurn's chest:
the vestigal male mammary glands are missing.

I'm not sure how sensitive people would react to the use of the n word (and I don't mean "TRIBBLE") in this case so I'll let you all sort out what I mean with this sentence.

Of course they serve no purpose on a male so perhapse Klingon evolution has completely removed them from the males but if there was a female version of this variant it would not be able to do something mammals are supposed to be capable of.
So most likely there would be no such version of female Klingons.
If there ever was I assume they probably died out unles they appeared (perhaps as a randim mutation) at a point in Klingon evolution when offspring no longer needed breastfeeding because there would be ample "artificial" substitutes available.
