It seems highly unlikely to me the Klingons would allow other races to fly their ships and get their hands on Klingon cloaking tech regardless whether they were an ally or not. It just makes sense for the races of the KDF faction to be flying their own ships. The models for frigates, cruisers, escorts, etc are already there, you dont have to get too diverse with it to start just make the ships bigger and give them more weapons, BOff, Console slots, ect, to begin with to compensate for rank. More styles can come later. You wouldn't have to have multipole starting points either at 1st, just come up with a opening screen upon creation where the leader of that race is sending the character to Qo'nos, bang you warp to the Klingon home planet and begin play. Again home world starting points could come later if the community showed interest for them. The game needs to be in tune with what realistcally would happen in the Star Trek universe, just like in the real world no nation is gonna give away military secretes to anyone even to an ally. And yes you have the Romulans and Klingons "Sharing" tech but I stress shared, it wasn't given away. It was a one time deal and both races regretted the sharing and alliance. Basically the Klingons are not going to give away cloak for an alliance, that would mean more ships in the galaxy with the same capabilities as the Klingon ships and I doubt they would let that happen.

Ally is a speculative word in Klingon boq (verb) ally with, form an alliance with, used in math for addition
You can be allied with someone but that does not mean on equal footing.
Maybe jeghpu'wI' (noun) conquered people -- more than slaves, less than citizens. The status given to natives of worlds conquered by the Klingon Empire is the word you are thinking.
Actually it is common KDF pratice to sell lessor used or outdated vessel designs to conscripted member world and races if thier loyalty to the Empire has been proven.
It raises capital for the Empire and insures your now serfs and possible future terrorists do not have technology that one can not overcome or know the weaknesses to.

What? Loyalty?
They even sell their old ships to Ferengi (see Rascals)... they just have to pay enough.
Also, such a restriction... would only be that: More restriction within a faction that alreay has
a. less stuff
b. more restrictions
then "the other" faction.

So a big "No" from my side^^
Actaully I look it as an add, the other race ships would have their own uique abilites. Consider the Orion ships, Orions have been in space for longer than most species so their ships should perform better than other ships. So far the Klingon ships aren't anything to write home about so having different racial ships with different capabilities would be a bonus. I'd much rather fly a Gorn frigate with whatever beam weapon they use that pounds you to death or a Nausian frigate with power syphoners than a BoP right now. And as Roach stated after showing your loyalty, (say Lt Comm rank) you could get a Klingon vessel. At the very least it needs to be an option open for players, it would add some diversity and flavor.

I thought Rascals was the TNG episode where the Ferengi tried to steal the Enterprise from a juvenile Picard and some Ju venile versiosn of the crew?
Besides my info was based off of soft canon materials and not any particular episode.
The use of all the Klingon, Orion, Gorn, Nausican ships ingame by anyone playing a KDF toon is a MMO decison more than anything else.

Jeghpu'wI' don't have their own ships and even when they serv on them then only as civilian workers (example a Pheben called Leknerf on the IKS Gorkon)
I don't think any of the races allied with the Klingons fit that category in any way.
Conqered people like the Al'Hmatti had a Klingon governor ruling the planet (in that case in a tiny starbase in orbit because it was actually warm there) while the Gorn were allowed to govern themselves so they are people allied but not conquered.

The obvious problem is this:
The Klingons are most likely the ones with the largest ship production capacity and militaries like that of the Gorn will be rather depleted after the conflict with the Klingons.
So whose ships will they use except for those few they had left and those they have managed to replace?
May guess it those ships we now see are those that survived or got replaced.
I'd also imagine the Gorn, Nausicaans and Orions would use their yards to produce ships of high quality (=higher tier) leaving the supply of obiquitous ships (particularly low-tier BoPs) to the Klingons.
Yes but with what?
I concede that I do not know that episode very well or pay much attention to it.

I was thinking in the part of its definition that says, " conquered but not slaves" as I can not find the Klingon word for Ally, at all, and it has made me wonder if the concept of "ally" in the Empire is different from the human definition of: To enter into an alliance, To place in a friendly association, as by treaty.
Possibly the "friendly" part is the key to the differences as a Klingon fight alongside his enemy, untrusting of them the whole time, against the greater foe - still hold the grudge that means no peace between himself and said enemy until honor is satisfied.

I can see the logic in what you say, though soft cannon has shown that the Empire or houses have sold very outdated vessels in the past and the game decision is just one of simplicity

HMM, well where are you looking?
The Klingon language is a bit of a problem since it still expands a bit.
I did find a translation for "ally with"
so maybe they know the concept.
Also they've had several decades of learning how it works with the Federation.
The Gorn are a pleople of honor themselves so perhaps the Klingons would also accept them more easily as allies, not to mention the Nausicaans who have sworn to them.
In case of the Orions I'm not os sure of course...
I can see the logic in what you say, though soft cannon has shown that the Empire or houses have sold very outdated vessels in the past and the game decision is just one of simplicity
That's a big question, what's really outdated?
We know they sold the Romulans D7s which was a shiptype still in their own service even though I could imagine they were already testing the first K't'Inga prototypes.
Cryptic could have given the non-Klingons some really outdated Klingon ships of course.
But then some people would have probably taken a liking to them and demanded to fly them themselves on thier Klingon chars.
There is also little wisdom in giving your allies stuff that's so outdated it would have no actual use in combat.
Ah, see I lost interest towards the begining and could only think had they used Klingons instead of ferengi the next line heard after the semi-petulant and unmasculine , " I'm Jean Luc Picard! " would followed a disruptor whine and simply said, " Check. Round up the rest Warriors and space them. The Enterprise is ours."
That particular episode never appealed to me so I was unaware until now the icorrelation of it to our debate.

Well, if I didnt understand you wrong you want to tie the ship to a race.
And thats a serious disadvatage, not an add.
For comparison...
If I play an Andorian on fed side... I have the choice over A LOT OF ships.
Playing as Nausican on KDF side I have ALREADY little choice since we have less ships, but that would limit us even further; Playing that Nausicaan I couldnt play any orion, Klingon or Gorn ship, just the 1 (may be later 2 or 3) Nausicaan ships.
Not everybody is even willing to level multible characters so... no...
The same issue, by the way, already exists with costumes since Klingons have less costumes then feds in genreal and most of them are tied to certain races, wich leaves each of them for themselfes with little to no options.
That particular episode never appealed to me so I was unaware until now the icorrelation of it to our debate.
Shame on you... that episode is prety essetial in a lot of canon discussuions about Klingon ships since its the only time ever a "B'rel" class was even mentionet, refering to ships that were stock footage from the only K'Vorts we ever actually saw onscreen in Yesterdays enterprise... wich proofes the cummon differention between "small" and "Large" bird of prey as "B'rel' and "K'Vort" canonacly wrong...
Tng did nothing to improve the klingons at all. They made worf boring. The KDF ship i go off are from sfb and sfc. Next gen designs where never good at all. And race specific the KDF had the better ships and anyone that subjectated kept there older ships.

Right now, when you begin a character on the KDF side you have no choice. Everyone starts with a BoP.
Why not changing things around so that Gorns, Nausicans, and Orions start with a race specific frigate instead (everyone else get's the standard starter BoP). Sure they'd have no choice in the matter, but right now you don't have a choice at start anyway, and this would add some much needed variety to the KDF's lower levels.
Once you reach the next rank you earn access to all the normal klingon ships that everyone else has as well as your race specific starter.
Tng did nothing to improve the klingons at all. They made worf boring. .
I disagree....
They castrated him in my opinion and he did not regain his " klingonesque" feel properly until he was sent to DS9. On TNG, Worf was just the "toothless" Klingon pet that was Hero of the Holodeck more than anything else.
Of course this is my personal opinion and others may vary.

I can see a simple solution at start but when they get the Klingon faction up to par they need start putting the various Klingon faction races in their own ships, if folks want a cloak then as others have stated they can get a outdated ship with a cloak that's similar to mask energy signature.
Well, if I didnt understand you wrong you want to tie the ship to a race.

If you would have read further I stated that different racial ships need to be "Added" as another "Option" in place of making them race specific- more ships to fly is definitely an add. And even if they were race specific that would give each racial toon some individuality that's not present on the Star Fleet side where everyone is a member of Star Fleet looking out for the UFP. On the Klingon side it should be everyone has formed an alliance but they are still looking out for their own governments best interest. This is a sci fi game true but some level of reality has to be inserted or it becomes absurd. It isn't believable that Klingons are gonna let other races fly their warships and get their cloaking tech, it would make them the most stupid race in the history of the galaxy to do that.
I thought I'd point out that along with races flying their own ships you would also have a much more diverse and interesting Klingon faction. Here are some of the things you should see with this line of thought. 1. Even if the ships are race specific they are still more ships to fly -add 2. Seperate starting worlds with story lines driven by each races goals in the UFP KDF War -add 3. Since the other races do not have cloak you would see more ships with different capabilities, Syphon frigates, tough Orion corvettes, etc -add
Much more can be done with a more diverse faction like the KDF than the UFP, yes it would have the restriction of races flying their own ships but it would add more content by delving into each races goals with their own content and story lines. It would be nice to more fully explore each races culture since little is known about them. Orions have been apart of Star Trek from the start but we know very little about them, they are portrayed as pirates but I see them more as Vikings going out to raid but also colonizing at the same time.
If we let them get by with not diversifying the KDF faction then we can expect a Romulan faction where everyone flies a Romulan ship and all the story lines, culture, content is centered around the Romulan race. The same with the Cardassian faction, etc, etc, etc. Yes it would take more work to seperate some things but in the end we would have a much more interesting game to play.
