Referring to the new quad cannon now out on Tribble...
It isn't...It's a purple Mk X and Purple Mk XIs are more powerful.
Been there, seen that. That's what I get for believing what was said...again...
So...when it hits Holodeck, if you want to buy it just for the cannon...
Don't waste your money, stick with what ya got.
The ship looks cool, but the cannon just isn't all that.
Just saying....

The version that comes with the BoP refit at commander rank says it scales in power as you level up. My character on Tribble is not yet capped, can you confirm that at max rank/level it is still less powerful than a MkXI purple cannon?

It definitly is. It just scales to mkX and I happen to have an MK XI weapon with the same bonus (DMG X 3) has the same more damage and DPS, just without the engine drain.

Plain and simply: The quads suck.
At least on my Hegh'ta they do not even look very good, I hoped it would use some of the "dead" cannon hardpoints at the ship... but it doesnt. And dont let me get startet on the sound...

Its in testing now, but if THAT stays the result my money wont go into quads, at least not on KDF side.

And (last I checked) was a unique bind only item making it impossible to equip more than one on a vessel at a time.

they dont seem to scale up to mark XI or XII, but that could just be they have not set it up right, or perhaps they just dont want them too. hard to say at this point. at lower tiers they are effective but become less so at max rank. perhaps they will add some XI or XII versions later that can be bought or crafted.

but its still easier to buy the ship than to go grind out a weapon, so its probably right that you dont get to just buy the best/highest dps weapon in the game with money.

The lower damage values may be due to the fac tthat it it's a scaling weapon as well.

We're Vice Admiral 1 now. Starting with VA, we could have access to Mark XII weapons. But scaling items scale to your actual level, which is 51, while I presume the Mark XII weapon is something like level 60. It is an issue that cropped up before with other scaling items. The devs once mentioned it wasn't even actually planned we could get Mark XII weapons at our level, but it somehow creeped still in with the Level Cap increase (and with a few select missions where you fight higher level enemies so that there is an actual chance they can drop).

It's one of the reasons why I think they could make odd-mark items more attractive if they became available 5 levels earlier. Eg. if your Captain 6, you could already start using Mark IX items. That would mean you would ideally want to upgrade every 5 levels, and odd mark items could remain relevant at all tiers.

Well ALL "directly" scaling items just go up to MKX... The leveling TOS phasers (ground and space) we got when the devidian FE was released are weaker then the level tied MK XI ones we can get now, for example.

Since the Quads SEEM to be kind of fix (they have the MKX standing there, just like the stuff we get not leveling but scaled to our level when we get them) while actually leveling weapons have no number indicating wich level they are.
That gives me a slight hope that we are supposed to get MK XI not MKX versions...

    (I hope anybody understands what I mean^^)

Confirmed...I got it soely for the cannons to compliment the cannon loadout I had, I was already above the level of the ship.
Below Mk X, they're cool, but at endgame, they're just meh....

    This is quite correct.

    It's a purple Mk X
Could the Icon just be a "Place Holder" for a real graphic?

Well it could.... after all, the real "icon" is the one of a usual dual canon. But if the current values are those of MKXI cannons the result is even more disapointing....

    Thanks for the heads up.

I have been waiting for the quads for some time now hoping they would just give us a visual effect for our duals & heavy duals.

    Alas we get this version.

Would still be interesting to hear a dev comment about this since :
1)I hate choosing between performance and esthetics
    2) Stoked mentioned they are "the highest damage cannons in the game" which if your investigations are correct they are clearly not.

I am in wonderment why? It seems that, in light of their release ingame, they would allow a player to have at least 2 on a vessel.

So it's not more powerful than other weapons (rather the opposite at current max-level and it has this hughe energy drain on the engines.
Pay more (both in money and in energy drain) to get less?

When more levels unlock leveling items will go up higher. Until then they are capped at 51, while MKXII items are lvl 60.

Even if these weapons were equivalent to Mk XI, I still don't see why they'd be worth the power drain.

unless they give it a [acc]x3 mod it will be junk. It amazes me how little cryptic knows about their own game.

I still few the Quads fell to pre-emptive nerfing based on pre-emptive fears that pre-emptively appeared when they snuck the idea out via STOked.

Their current stats are pathetic in comparison to other weapons of the same tier you're using. (in fact I have a rare set of dual heavies at mark VI that do more Damage and DPS than the quads on Tribble. And i'm not specked into the dual's energy type.

So feed back on them is

Damage is insignificant. Lower tier weapons of unspeced energy types are doing more DPS and DPV.
Unique one per ship is uncalled for, in fact i'd fire the guy who thought it was a good idea.
-10 to engines is far too much of a handicap, they shouldn't have any negative engine modifier, if they're also going to reduce weapon power when firing.
visual effect is good, I'd like to see a few more pulses though.
audio effect is horrible, they should sound beefy, heavy, "WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP WHOMP" cannons not "pew pew".

Well, first of all, these aren't the ones that are on the Defiant, but the ones on the BoP.

Second, the statement I believe was "The highest damaging Cannons in the game" Which they are higher in damage then normal Dual Cannons.. but not better then Dual HEAVY Cannons.. Which still provide more Damage.

And Third, with the -10 to Engine power, I wouldn't WANT more then 1 set of those on my ship, if I ever used them!

Is there a difference beyond the visual and acoustic effects?
    What is it?

Cannons is a general term and would therfore apply to all of them.
"Can use Cannons" does not exclude DHCs either.
If it were not a general term it would be a total contradiction since then the Quads owuld be considered to be the same category as Single cannons.

Also in what way do DHCs do more damage than DCs, I thought their severity is higher not their basic damage.

Right now they turn your ship into a gun turret.:(

a DESIGN ASPECT i COULD UNDERSTAND DIRTSIDE UNDER GRAVITY BUT i WONDER WHY THEY DID IT FOR SPACE COMBAT?

Would it not be better to make the -10 engines a culmulative thing that builds up to a maximum of -10 if more than one Quad is outfitted on a ship or get rid of it all together since we can only mount one?

besides it is a death sentence for bops and escort to use this and i bet 500 creds that idoits will use this in pvp then whine about it saying it is op.

Considering the -10 Engine power hurts PVP Escort Class and BoP class ships, I don't see them using it. (Especially the Garumba in Siege Mode)

The Negh'Var and Vor'cha are possibilities. But their Tactical BO slots make it weaker then it could be on a BoP or Escort class.

And it's a Joke to put it on a Carrier. Because most ships will just scoot out of the 45' Arc anyway.

Yeah just tried these on test server as i started my klingon toon lil while ago......i have to say i like the look of the ship, the effects of the weapon....the sound is okay but could be better.

However as people have pointed out they do NOT in fact have better damage capabilites then things we can already get in game and yet they have an engine power penalty and can only mount 1? I've just found 2 ships i will never have to purchase from the cstore.

I'd love to have "cannon" cannons on my defiant, but i'm not going to pay money for fx/sound with a weapon that is subpar ontop of having a penalty which is NOT justified for its performance. This one's a failure before it even gets outta the gate.
