First off, thank you to Trace_Thorne who started a similar post when the game first went live.

I wanted to post a thread like this because it seems that the community and the developers may have different goals for the long term of this game. With all the changes going on with F2P, I thought this would be a good play to repost this thread. I know we all have varying ideas of what we think a Star Trek MMO should be, so we can add that here as well, just to give the developers our perspective of how we want the game to play. Below you will find an example format for the posts in this thread, which should make it easier for the developers to read each post.

What you expect from a Star Trek MMO

Your perspective on how the game would play if you were developing it.

Example:
A game where I can explore and discover interesting new life and races with unexpected results depending on player choices throughout the mission.
A game focused on group play more so than solo pay.

Short-term requests

These are small things that seem like they could maybe be done within a patch or two.

Examples:
Fixing a graphics glitch on a starship model
Adding additional NPC vendors to starbases
Tweaking something in the way the fleet interface works

Mid-term requests

These are things which realistically would take a couple of months for the devs to do, given dev time, testing, balancing, and so on.

Examples:
Adding more fleet actions past the crystalline entity
Strengthening the death penalty/difficulty
Overhauling Memory Alpha

Long-term requests

These are "direction of the game" kind of things. Stuff that you want them to do over the next year or two of the game's development.

Examples:
More choices in how to complete content - ie, maybe missions with a diplomatic rather than a pure combat solution depending on choices you make during the mission.
More stuff for fleets - fleet-owned starbases, "raid" interfaces that allow fleets to do fleet actions together, etc.
More playable factions (romulans, cardassians, etc)

Disclaimer: All of the examples above are just that, examples. They're not meant for you to agree or disagree with, just to give an idea of what type of requests might fall into each category.

What I expect from a Star Trek MMO

I want the game to offer as many options for play as possible: combat, diplomacy, puzzles, crafting. Star Trek was often about tension, but not about combat. I have blown up thousands of enemies and it never feels like Star Trek. I want STORIES, not endless, mindless, plotless space battle after space battle.

    Short-term requests

    • More character and interaction with Bridge Officers (making random comments or conversation in speech balloons, or even voices).
    • "Disabling" ships on Fed side instead of blowing them up (in much greater proportion).
    • More equilateral rewards for playing Foundry missions.

    Mid-term requests

    • Expansion of story-focused content (even making select Foundry missions into regular missions.
    • Making it equally rewarding to play any type of missions (Explorations, PvP tournaments, Diplomatic missions)
    • Search fields within the Foundry for "era" (2409, TNG/DS9/VOY, TOS Movies, TOS series or ENT). That way if I want to play a TOS crew, I can find missions that cater to that aesthetic.
    • Stop having mission texts calling us Rear Admiral Upper Half Smith, and such. Let us select whether we're called by our Rank (and shorten all Admiral titles to just "Admiral", ShortName or Title.

    Long-term requests

    • Give us the ability to play versions of nearly every ship at every level to the greatest possible extent CBS will allow. There's no reason a Steamrunner or Stargazer or Olympic couldn't be used at Tier 5--Even CBS can't refute that based on canon. I'm sick of having the same ship as every other Admiral.
    • Create multiple paths to rank up: Combat, Science, Diplomacy. Mix it up some sure, but why should my Science officer experience the exact same story as my Tactical Officer?

    Short term-

Reballance small craft to become usefull out of "The Vualt" and allow them to actually become effective in PVP (Most ships have Shuttlebays some in game/combat use could be derived from them out side of the current gimmicks)

Latinum funded torpedo+mine devices. These are consumible devices that the player can restock that stack up to 20 to get special torpedoes and mines, like from quantem to tricobalt that fires off a single torpedo or mine.

    Mid Term-

Equality for the KDF content. If there is a Federation piece of content there has to be a piece of KDF content to mirror it.

    Long Term-

Single instance PVP warzones fueled by solo players and fleets with territory controll for every planet and starbase.
