crafting resource calculator

An idea I had for crafting that I think would be cool is a resource calculator for crafting. What I mean by this is lets say you want to make 5 MK XI Purple shields at the moment you need to manually work out how many data samples you need.

What would be cool if there was a built in calculator that you'd say you want to build 5 MK XI shields and it would count how many of each data sample you have and tell you how many you need. This would save you from having to manually work it out.

There's a few add-ons in Wow like that and they are really useful. What do you guys think ?

    It would be nice to have an ingame calculator and notepad to jot down little ideas and other things, kinda like EvE Online has
