sucks not being able to do the deferi missions til higher level now
Jenny@Griggitz: i think its a mistake
[Fleet] Jenny@Griggitz: they just made the gameplay linear

[Fleet] Jenny@Griggitz: who does that?
Fleet] Blumann@captjesus68: linear schminear - I want my deferi items to level with :(

[Fleet] Ratel@Lurchicus: Oh... good morning all!

[Fleet] Ratel@Lurchicus: :)

[Fleet] Jenny@Griggitz: imho they totally #TRIBBLE%&^ all the story missions by lumping them in with the episodes
Fleet] Jenny@Griggitz: and vice versa

[Fleet] Ratel@Lurchicus: Aye

[Fleet] Jenny@Griggitz: should be two different things. period.
[Fleet] Ratel@Lurchicus: We need to forum post that on STO's site... they have been reading and watching opinions.

[Fleet] Rogers@DramaLlama2010: I hate in F2P that you can not do the Dividian or Breen Missions at lower levels now GRRR

In STO parlance, storyline missions have always been called episodes.

I don't have problem with them integrating the FEs into the regular storyline missions (i.e. dropping the Dividians into the middle of the Klingon campaign)

It would be nice, IMHO if access to the different campaigns were level controlled like they used to be, rather than strictly linear. i.e. Whether you had finished the Klingon missions or not the Romulan campaign became available at level 20, Cardassians at level 30, Borg at level 40.

As is we get punished for leveling in any way that isn't the storyline missions. When the linear missions go live we will have to have played the storyline missions up to The Vault to do the Delta Flyer daily, and we won't be able to do B'Tran cluster explorations or the Tour the Galaxy Event until we've done all the storyline missions right up to Borg.

My opinion about the integration of FE missions to the storyline progression is this simple, "It has to GO!" It is ridiculous that a mission like Skirmish is bugged, so I have to come to a complete stand still for storyline mission content. I have to go back to grinding the cluster grinds until they get around to fixing missions is ludicrous. They should have regular storyline missions, and then have unlock-able FE according to rank and FE progression lines. They NEVER should have put the 2 together.

stephen has already said that he himself hates it, so while the levels of when they open up may not change i think the linear nature of how they unlock will go but it will take a few weeks. dont panic too much as it will change in some way.

but i agree i dont like it at all.

That irks me some as well. I thought the whole point of the Feature Episode series was to provide players with alternate ways to level up through content.

Especially considering I'm not even through most of the Klingon Front (Devidian series inclusively) and that I'm at Captain 1 at present. They could very well leave most of the fronts open and level-scalable from the very moment you finish with the Sirius sector 'intro' missions (quest chain which end with 'Stop the Signal', I believe).

I mean, I can accept some linearity when it makes sense, but most of the fronts are disconnected and some fronts have specific arcs (i.e.: the Klingon Front has the Undine-oriented arc that ends with 'Stop the Signal', then the Devidian arc which ends with 'Night of the Comet' and finally the B'Vat arc ending with 'Past Imperfect). Linearity through arcs would be great, but being able to jump on the arc of your choosing would be even better.

They just need to add a skip feature for missions. Doesn't mean they have to be unlinked, per se.

I like the suggestion I saw another poster make that said you could simply send some DOs off to clear a mission and flag it as complete for different or reduced rewards.

THIS. The linear storyline seems like it might've been a good idea in some warped sense of logic, but it goes down like the Titantic.

I think they should guide you as far as what mission to play next, but you shouldn't have to play them in that order. If you choose to skip one then you should be able to move on to the next. If you really hate a mission, or you get stuck due to it being too hard/bugged, you shouldn't be forced to play it.

Throwing my hat in here to say that I agree that the guideline should stay for those that value the story, but the ability to skip should be allowed. Its the easiest solution to the valid complaint of rewards not leveling with you. It also allows players to enjoy STO how they want.

I'm actually perfectly fine with the featured episodes mixed with the storyline. However, I hate how the Breen are after the Borg. The Breen, who are related to DS9 should be before or after the Cardassian missions. Either right after the Romulan missions or after the Cardassian ones.
