    Well...

First of all: This is, at least officially, not a tech beta.
We even got a new tech test server called reshirt... and there is that other small beta-test server where the paid beta is running for years now... what was its name? A.. yes... holodeck.

What? Of coruse it is. It is testing the tech used for F2P STO is it not?
This is supposed to be the Beta for f2p.
And a lot of f2p elements are not working.

This is why we are testing it. To work out what is broken, how we broke it, and letting the devs fix it.
We are there to find out if the new currency works. But we CANT since we dont get dillithium the way we are supposed to.
We are supposed to make the whole leveling progress but its a pain since... bo training doesnt work.
And this ISNT a "minor" issue. A texture not working is a minor issue. The BO-clones on the bridge are a test-server minior issue.
Singel missione not working right in one or the other ways are minor issues (although that become major issues thanks to the forced mission progression that makes it impossible to go on if only ONE mission in between is broken).

Not being able to train BOffs is not a minor issue if all you are doing is trying to level by doing missions. But that is not the only way to level, and nor is it the only thing being tested. Why not go and test some other part of the game while waiting for this to be fixed?
Nobody complains about those "minor issues", although it makes me wonder why so many things are broken that work on the Holodeck testserver.

I refer you to your very own first comment in your post here... They are TESTING the TECH REQUIRED TO MAKE F2P WORK. Of course you are going to run into things that work on Holodeck, but not on Tribble. Why? Because they are changing those systems to work with their F2P model.
Not beeing able to train BOs is a major issues, not getting any (KDF) is an even bigger issue. Like it or not.

And I dont get how they intent to really TEST the leveling progress under f2p if they let us level under broken conditions instead of working conditions.

I agree to an extent that it is a fairly major issue for Klingons, since they can't access the Duty Officer system immediately. Nor can Feds, true, at least they can get enough BOs to fill out their ranks. However, it is certainly not the 'End Of The World' that you and others in here seem to think it is.

Like I said, test server. Means things WILL be broken. Just *****ing about it isn't going to help though. Report it, and go find something else to test. That is what we are meant to be doing, after all.

Again: They are testing the level progression under f2p. Part of wich is purchasing ships with Dillithium. How are we supposed to test that - and the balance of the Dillithium - if we dont get any by the "usual" sources? How do they intent to find out the balance that way? Do you really thing ppl are going to level MULTIPLE characters to see if its better next time?

No, nothing really get testet. There is no balance testing. It doesnt make sense in ANY WAY to test f2p that way, not before at least the BASICS are in.
And the Dillithium for story missions and BO training ARE BASICS.
And Basics are and were never "Minor issue".... you could as good say "Well everything that is broken is beaming up from ESD. Everything else works fine".

There is plenty of new Content to Test on Tribble and lack of being bale to train the "perfect" BOFF skills is a minor problem that might make running missions a smidge harder. People need to learn what a Beta test is and that most of them run with known issues. I have never been in a beta test without some pretty big known issues early on, and have been in plenty of beta tests so broken that Tribble seems like the pinnacle of aweseomeness by comparison. If the BOFF issue is a deal breaker, wait until a patch occurs that fixes it and play then. Posting about a known issue in a beta test is about the most pointless and futile thing a person can do.

The only genuine upside I can offer to the BOff trainer being bjorked is that we're being forced to use skills we wouldn't usually, and trying new skills out. It's not about finding the perfect bridge officer, but to an extent it is about rolling up a coherent and competent build to see what happens with the level scaling in place. This makes that much more difficult. The relative rarity of bread and butter skills like Emergency Power to Shields 1 & 2 means that some aspects of the DOff system are difficult to test as well.

It's difficult to assess how many of the complaints we're hearing about not having sufficient gear really boil down to added difficulty because players are fighting through poor bridge officer skill loadouts, how much is due to genuinely poor equipment, and how much is due to problems with the way the game calculates difficulty when everything is level scaling.

While I'm not inclined to cry about the situation, it really does negatively impact the ability to test the game honestly.

How are you supposed to test ANYTHING because this ONE thing is broken. Easy... Skip the BOFF training and go test EVERYTHING else.

I have rather enjoyed seeing how well I can do in a lesser vessel, equiped with white items at the level or lower than level Im playing at. Its actually made the game a challenge.

As far as broken features... its testing...not everything is going to work, and things that work may not work correctly. Either enjoy the opportunity to be a tester and give advice (constructive) to Cryptic, or go play on holodeck (or WoW even...).

I think forums were created just to give the 20% that like to complain and moan somewhere to vent....
