Well hopefully more people are able to test it before it goes live, and they speak up. I don't know how anyone could support it in it's current state.

I bet they did this cause of the fire-while-cloaked-at-point-black-while-flying-reallly-fast thing with the Bird of Preys.

If you tried it now with this change, I bet the BoP will explode due to the self inflicted damage.

while thats entirly possible its insane to essentially make the weapon useless to all vessels for fear one vessel can do x with a weapon system. the weapon is not viable as it stands on tribble. either make them non targetable or make them fast enough that you don't have to be performing a suicide run to actually ge them to hit target. I've never bothered using tricobs because they are already retardly difficult to get them to actually hit a target.....now they are just as hard to get to hit a target and your forced to kill yourself to use them UNLESS your in a cruiser in which case you nearly destroy yourself to the point anyone else nearby will finish you off easily.

    broken weapon system nuff said.

So I did some more testing with the Trics. I loaded 1 fore, and 1 aft, and went to the Fed Mirror event. Out of about 20 shots fired, I was able to land probably 12 or so of them. Almost all of them were shot from roughly 1 km away, some of them a little closer.

I find I was dieing a lot quicker than usual, and I contribute this to the damage I sustained when I was closer than 1km when firing the trics. I even killed myself outright once when my forward shield facing was down and I fired a tric at about 500m.

The "rift" thing, or whatever it is called when you fire a high yield tric, seemed to occur more than in my previous testing, i'd say about 75% of the time when they hit, however I still can't tell what this thing does. It didn't look like they were taking additional damage from it, and I don't think it was impeding their movement.

Equipping 2 of these made things a little easier, cause you could fire one off every 30 seconds instead of 1 minute. Personally I think the timer should be downed to 30 seconds period, so you don't have to equip 2 to get this effect.

The way I was performing, I think I would have been better off either being an energy boat, or using Quantums.

That is, if it doesn't hit holodeck before character copying is opened up on Tribble.

It could very well be on Redshirt right now with the Thunderchild ready to go on the 13th.

I just checked RedShirt, these Tric changes aren't there. I was able to fire off a Tricobalt at point blank, it hit but no damage was dealt to me other than the warp core explosion* from the ship it hit.

    * That's from the combat log not just by watching. The only damage registered was the Tricobalt hit and some kinetic damage to me from the warp core breach.

for a weapon system that is only able to fire once per minute it should not be so redonkulously worthless, either it gets shot down near you and nearly kills you, it gets shot down away from you and before it gets to target, it gets shot down while you are within 1k so you both get hosed. It simply is not viable. Its already got a built in nerf in that its a once in a long while weapon in battles so it makes no sense that it is also then very easy to counter........unless of course your willing to suicide which is simply TRIBBLE.

here's to hoping it will change for the better or it will be yet another weapon system that is hardly ever used.

I got nearly killed, and did get killed a few times last night as the tric blew up the second it left my torp bay. So this isn't so much that they've nerfed the Tric, it's that they've made CRF, TS, and FAW insanely powerful cause they will pretty much destroy anyone who launches a Tric *rolls eyes*

Maybe the AOE skills like Cannon Rapidfire, Torp spread, and Fire at Will need to put more emphasis on ships, and less on torpedoes and boarding parties. Or simply not target them at all, and have the player either have to target them manually, or have a point defense (akira) or defensive battery (pre order).

    Were you flying a Defiant?

I saw someone using Tricobolts in a Defiant in the Fed Mirror event yesterday. I saw one of them hit one of the cruisers and cause a rift, which proceeded to blow up like 5 other ships instantly.

So I did a few more Fed mirror events, and I'm starting to get better with the new Trics, but I still haven't used them in PVP, and that's where the real test will be.

I might be able to launch trics at 1-2 km and get about a 50-75% hit rate in PVE, but I'm guessing that will plumet to around 0-25% in PVP. Unfortunately the PVP queues seem to always be empty in Tribble, so I won't be able to test it until character transfer is open, likely.
