The server is back on and the SFA event is running. It didn't even took 10 minutes for me to find ways to cheat.
If someone scans an anomaly and finds a particle, you can hammer on F and steal his stabilizing process.
You can place turrets near a spawnpoint of an anomaly. If an enemy spawns, the turret attacks it. The player who deals the first damage, get's the loot drop. You can also stand near another player and simply shoot at his enemy first.
You can place a dampening field over a spawnpoint of an anomaly. The result is the same as the point above.
If someone scans an anomaly, it should be tagged as his and the stabilizing process should start right away. Without a second interaction button. It should not be possible to steal the loot from an enemy by shooting him first.
I also had the feeling that there are way too many players in each instance.
Yeah. The opportunity to grief is REALLY high here. I had a higher level destroy my holographic combat person. And people just running around spamming the F key.
And there is WAY to many people in these instances for this event. 20 is about enough to cut down on the griefing potential and not get people really frustrated.
Its Ok besides that. Just too crowded and griefers make the event stink.
yea i got into a word war with some one over this... then after tempers cooled down we ended up sharing this one spawm point that never...and i mean never failed to yield a stable particle.
The easiest way to do this is to have a portal take you to another area. The area is population controlled and multiple instances can be set-up. Each instance has 20 or less players and the problem with "F" keying needs to be addressed. I know I got into one of the matches late, but it was so crowded that I couldn't get to shiny without a half dozen others piling in on the same location.
I agree without everyone. This event is not fun. I almost wanted to throw my computer against the wall because of one person that was just going around slamming on F. If anything for the event have the people go to the holodeck with there "student". Then you have to zone into a "holographic" academy (basically just a private instance of teh academy made just for the event). Then only allow up to 5 people per "holo" instance. These 5 people would be put ona team and would work together to complete the event for awards. Just my 2 cent.
I'm not sure if its first damage or overall damage. Then again, I might have been quick on the trigger.
I find it annoying that I have to constantly mash the F key when scanning because others will try and take your scan. I sat their scanning watching another player just waiting to snatch what I got.
Also, it concerns me that the NPCs as they move by push you a little. While I have yet to have my scan broken, the fact that I'm being shoved a bit worries me that one cadet will completely knock me down and interrupt my scan.
Because otherwise, you'd just get your stuff taken by someone with better bandwidth.
This morning, I was just logging in to check on my Doff assignments and saw the event.
I hadn't done it before and was like, oh! thats nifty, I'll try it out... then I noticed the Zone chat filled with Cursing, explicatives, interjections (show excitment and emotion, they're generally set apart from a sentence by and explanation point, or by a comma when the feelings not as strong.) and pejoratives.
So, I found a spot where there was a particle but few people and spammed my F key.
Then shortly there after found out why people were shouting 'Thief!' as they can steal the big particle thing from you.
Instituting 'Tagging' where the first person or group to interact with the Clicky gets whatever comes from it would make this less of a nightmare.
It was horrible. It seemed to me that 9 out of 10 particles I scanned collapsed. Then if I actually got the klingon this one person who had a higher DPS would be over and and take it. Not because I did not shoot first, but because they did more damage. After the event I ended up with 9, when by my calculation I should have scored at least 15 with the klingon kills. 30 or 40 if I did not have so many collapsed. And of course you can't do squat with them unless you have the 15. With a rebalance I would also like to see you be able to turn in X amount to him and he keeps a log, so it shows like 6 more left to turn in. Kind of like the craft the delta flyer with the rare particles. Otherwise I am not sure how to get to the 15 plus needed since they dissolve after X amount of time.
Between this and trying to get an iPhone 4s this morning at 3am, I was not too happy.
Just curious is that why there are "energy bubbles" around SFA? And how does someone get in to the event? Will it be in the PVE que?
Check the calendar events, which is accessed by the Hail Starfleet button, and then at the bottom, it shows events and the time they will start. they run for 1 hour.
The energy bubbles were Science Players that were trying to steal peoples kills.

I had the same experience. Someone was literally running around in a wide circle, clearly mashing F and stealing mine, as well as others', scans and partical dispersal. I must have had a good 12 or 13 stolen from me.
In general the amount of griefing made it not fun and way too chaotic.

with less people its not too bad. somewhat of a whimsical event but its ok for what it is.

Other players should not be able to steal your kill.
In its current state this event is garbage.
The Event is a complete exercize in frustration.
At the minimum, whoever does the original scan should get to fight the hologram or do the tricorder scan.
Or completely eliminate the "collapses".
