Crouching

First off let me say please don't laugh at me as you read this.

I've been out of STO for a few months playing the APB Beta FPS. However, when I heard STO was starting it's F2P Beta (hopefully the eve of some friends joining), I had to come back and join the testing. Now, it's been long enough that I can't remember, but did crouching always disengage when moving? I thought that I used to be able to move in a crouched position. If this is has always been this way, someone let me know.

Also, if it is supposed to and always has been like that, please Devs let's change that. Surely the animation exists to move when crouched. If a person/ character is crouching to maintain accuracy and present less of a target, they don't hop up to move. They move in that position. Just saying.

If it's a bug, let's get it fixed. Small bugs like that are quick fixes but still impact the game.

It's new as of this beta..

It's not a bug, it's the new design.

Oh, and btw.. I HATE IT... I wish they'd keep it combined like it is on Holodeck now. We have shooter mode on Holodeck now, and it works perfectly well. I can't understand their need to change it in the first place.

Ok, they need to fix/ change this then. Not just for shooter mode, but for RPG mode. If I don't want to crouch than I can press the crouch key again, jump, or (once again can't remember if it was like this before) hit the sprint button to move fast out of crouch.

Also, why does sprint stay on? Shouldn't that turn off when you let off the button? I mean, seriously, if I'm sprinting I don't think "oh, I better move backwards or turn to stop." I just stop.

    Just saying here

Aim and Crouch have been separated, but I would not say that moving canceling the crouch is not a bug. Using WASD cancels the crouch, but as posted by someone else, moving with the mouse does not cancel the crouch. Therefore, it's bugged, but what's the bug? WASD canceling crouch or the mouse not canceling crouch?

Personally, I hate the crouch being cancelled when I move. Aiming is not cancelled so why should crouch?

Edit... I posted in another thread that I didn't mind Aim and Crouch being separated. However, now that I've played more, the two functions being separated is a pain the rear. There is never a time I want to do one or the other, I always want to do both. And now to do both, I have to hit two different keys instead of just one. Then with the crouch always being cancelled when I move, the amount of key presses I now have to manage is, well, annoying.

Exactly (and yes, sprint/run cancelled the crouch as it should)

No sprint should not be cancelled when you let off the button. It's always been press the button and run for the duration of the progress bar; or you take some other action to can cancel it. I really don't want it changed.

I would call the movement keys (WASD) not cancelling the crouch the bug/ problem. Although aim and crouch have been separated (and validly so, just cause I'm crouching doesn't mean I'm aiming) that does not mean that moving should have affected the crouching stance. I wonder if this wasn't an accidental result of the aim/ crouch split.

As to the sprinting thing, I respect your opinion, but disagree. I think it should be a hold to use, release to stop option. However, it's not something that bothers me that much. I'd rather see the crouch thing fixed. I can live with the sprinting thing.
