I have a quick question? The abilities the Doffs have. I.E. "Ability to beam down extra security escort" Do these stack, Not in the way where I can get more than 1 extra, but will it be MORE likely if I have more than 1 DOff with this ability assigned. I have been torn between, putting two of the same ability to maybe have a better chance it happenes, or not waste my DOff for that cause it doesn't work that way and that DOff could be off on assignment instead of on my roster doing nothing.
It doesn't look like you can have two Doffs with the same name slotted for a ship ability (I've tried it.) however if you have two Doffs with the same ability that have different names it can work as I have two difference nurses that have the same ability and I can use them both at the same time. each % to proc is probably checked separately. It would be nice if the Doff system tutorial (if they add one) or help menu explains why this limitation is present or how it is intended to function if this activity is a bug and not intended. Right now it seems to be tribal knowledge and we don't know if it is functioning as intended or a bug.
Another good question is, can Doff abilities proc off things Boffs do, or only on what the player does. For example with nurses that have a % to proc a medic beaming down when you use a hypospray, can that proc when a Boff uses a hyprospray or only when the player?
If Doff abilities can't proc off Boffs, then some abilities are rather useless for most people. Example if the abilities don't proc for Boffs than the % chance to proc an extra turret/mortar is useless for Sci or Tac Captains since only Engineers can place turrets/mortars.

That is a good question. I don't think it procs off of BOFF's though just because what abilities that they have like the above mention sec escort one. I am an engineer, I have no sec escorts, so i figured, that is a doff going on assignment you know. The turret one you were talking about, would be great for me, so that is one I would assign. But if you think about it like that, then there is no need to make it proc off a BOFF, cause if the ability does not work for you, I guess you just asign them to a mission. Although I think having the proc off the DOff's too would be awesome. It would make them a little more useful.
This is all just theory I have no idea on how they actually work. But i have the feeling they only proc off of you.
Currently, they proc only off of you, not your bridge officers. There are technical and design considerations to make this work with bridge officers, though it is something we are considering.
Different specializations have different stacking rules - generally 1 or 3. Security can, in fact, be stacked.
And, yes, when all the procs go off at once, it is quite satisfying... :cool:
