FYI - they artificially speeded up the Tribble leveling curve for testing of the F2P game. (Much like they did in the original beta 2 years ago)

    Issues:
1| Load times-is this a preview of what Silver members are going to get
2| Server drops-the "Nexus" is working overtime
3| Stop the Signal-not that big a deal to experienced people (who can level up other ways) but the brand new Silver member is going to be upset he/she can't progress through the story
4| x button aim-there was no reason for that
5| starting tutorial in shooter mode-at least have a real time message that b gets you out of shooter mode.

3, 4 and 5 are not a huge deal to people who have played before, but you are going to drive away newbies before they can spend money.

no, you assume command of the miranda you beam over to.

Actually, you beam back the the ship you were first on to assume command. So you beam 'from' the Miranda to the sovereign and then back. So yes, it is the ship you start on.

I have seen an issue that i dont like if im reading it correctly with the way we now get missions. (it may be something they will change later).

right now, 'stop the signal' seems to be bugged. there is a problem with the klingon help getting killed too quickly, but no problem as that will get fixed....but.... the next mission does not seem to open up (researcher rescue) until i play stop the signal. so that means players are forced to play a misison in the story chain to get the next one.

    that brings up 2 issues.

    1) much like above if one mission is bugged, and it happens from time to time, the game comes crashing to a halt as you cant continue the quest.

    2) ive made tons of alts and i dont play the same missions every time. sometimes i want skip them and move onto something else, maybe even come back to them later. i thought the whole point of having missions level to you is that you could skip some and then come back to them later, not to let one mission stop the storyline.

does it only affect missions within a chain or the whole lot. will not doing 'stop the signal' mean i cant play the devidian series or the romulan front?

I think thats a bad idea then, that will cause so many issues, far more than it solves.

    ^^^^
I agree with this assessment. Yes, for the first few levels I agree that new player may want a little more handholding at the start - and certain mission are requiered to advance; but to make EVERY mission required to proceed to the next will mean quick burnout on alts, etc.

I know Kestrel likes it for future FE series as she stated in an interview thatr "Now I know whate every player character will have experienced..."; but to make the Level experience EXACTLY the same for each successive character Alt with the ONLY rweal difference being the optional objectives within the missions; and some of the ships and Captain abilities,e etc.

BAD IDEA. The optimal situation shopuld be as more content is added, that players can PICK AND CHOOSE missions after the first few starting ones to VARY the leveling experience for Alts and give characters variety in the leveling process <--- The ENCOURAGES players to make Alts.

Locking players into having to do all the missions in the same order to see later missions (IMO) is a BAD IDEA in the long run.

Also, I disagree with making it so players can't experience/do the Orrelious sector (and other dalies) until Level 49. iIt's ridiculous. Yes, it may not be a good idea to unlock these at Level 6 as it is now; but 49 is (IMO) way roo late in a player leveling progression. I think one group of these should open in the mid-late 20ies; and have teh Eta Eridani dailies open in the 30ies, etc. Spread this content out and give players options across all levels.

It's been over a year since I had to the Sector Patorols; and I think you NEED to have the other optional content (aka Dailies) available as thes Patrol missions are repetative, grindy and honestly not the content you want to have as the only 'non-story' mission types available in the bulk of the leveling process/progression.

Again, handholding at te start is good; but making it effective manditory for EVERYl character throught the entire leveling process (including Alts) is bad. You want to have multiple paths so an Alts leveling experience can be different, and give the player freedom to choose without being overly penalized for taking aniother leveling path with a second/third character.

can we also get the level of the exploration missions added to the journal. trying to work out which one is the highest level is a pain sometimes.

so 'patrol cardassian sector - captain 1' etc

    What I like:
The new Mission selection screen, more colorful and easy to understand, gives a clear understanding of what to do next and what missions are for the story and other things.
Upcoming events, can't wait to try the mirror universe event, and can't wait to see what else you guys have in store.
The new UI, glad you added more stuff so it's easier to get to some screens.

    What I don't like:
Starting in Shooter mode, to be able to click on things you have to have a cursor, in shooter mode the cursor is not there. I understand the want to feature shooter mode, so the first thing you should learn is how to turn it on and off then let people decide what they prefer, somtimes I love useing it and other times I prefer RPG mode. I often switch mid-combat. So people should know how to do this right off the bat.
I was REALLY looking forward to trying the DOFF system, but now I find out i have to get to lvl 12... grr seems like a waste but I also see there's a XP boost reward for doing this so I guess it's not all bad, and I should be able to reach atleast lvl 12 by tonight I hope.

they have changed the xp rewards on tribble. its a lot easier to get there than it would have been before so it wont take too long.

Staring in Shooter mode is fine. The ground mode you start in shouldn't matter, though. because it should be clearly explained from the start that there are two modes to choose from. In fact, I dare say it should require you to toy around, just for a brief moment, in both. Or at the very least, told about RPG mode and encouraged to play around with it.

So far, other than being disappointed that the "new" tutorial isn't even really that new, this is my only complaint.

Starting the game in shooter mode is pure idiocy when you can't do any of the things you need to do immediately while in that mode. Not that everybody loves and uses the shooter mode anyway. I'd prefer to have the RPG mode. If I wanted to play a FPS, I assure you this would not be the game I would be playing. But I don't want to play a FPS because I HATE FPSs with a passion that burns with the heat of a thousand suns. Other people like them, fine. Let other people play them. Other people like the shooter mode. And that's fine and dandy, but let US choose which mode we want to be the default mode, because I personally think your choice is TRIBBLE.

Will the Klingon character slot hold a Fed character? I can't even play Klingon because of the contrast on the HUD and Status UI with space and some ground. Hate to think one slot is going to complete waste unless you also plan to allow custom HUD/UI available for both factions.

    Nope.

Everyone gets one Fed-Only slot and one KDF-Only slot. While purchased slots, reward slots, and the one extra slot you get for subscribing can be used for anything, the standard slots are Fed-only and KDF-only.

Has anyone heard of the fate of the TRIBBLE Foundry Missions that were created before the Foundry went live to HOLODECK ? I have searched the forums, but NO JOY on finding an answer.

Some feedback on the Lore missions at SFA
Thease are pretty rudimentary, but atleast it adds somthing to do at the Academy.
I honestly think it's kind of strange that the academy instructors are just standing around outside waiting to quiz any passerby on the history of the federation.
Perhaps you could move them into class rooms, or have them just wandering around and make it like you bump into one of your old professors and they ask you thease things instead.
My point is it could be a little more realistic and believeable.

    So I'll report it here.

I keep getting the "You've got Mail/onscreen text" sound when there is no mail or onscreen text.

Everything that was on tribble prior to it going down for the f2p beta was deleted.

It was posted in the forums ahead of time that if there was anything in the foundry you wanted to save you needed to make your notes on it prior to the date of it switching over.

Are we going to have access to the C-Store? for whatever reason I can't access it and it's bugging me flying around in that POS deathtrap Miranda, a ship that I made sure I would NEVER have to fly again by paying CASH to Cryptic for.

I also find this an awesome time to test the Rhode Island......

Supposedly at some point they'll hook up a 'fake' c-store to test out the dilithium exchange and other c-store stuff while giving us fake stipends.

And the better time to test the RI would have been before its release.

Over the last several weeks there have been a few posts that give the idea that ranking has been sped up to promote testing on the F2P Test Server. Having picked up on that idea, I would like to get either a Confirmation, or a Denial of that as a fact in the process.

If a Post, or a Quote to Confirm or Deny, (Disprove) that idea exists, I would love to see it.

    Thanks, SS

I'm not sure if this is what you were looking for, but there's this:
...If you're paying attention, you'll also notice that we sped up the leveling curve at the lower levels, so you'll be level 11 before you know it!
    Source: http://startrekonline.com/node/2630

I seem to recall there were additional Dev posts that talk about the increased XP given on Tribble, but I don't have ready access to those. Pretty much I was gaining a grade after each mission, plus the DOff system would dump all sorts of XP on ya. I know I was able to level up both Fed and KDF characters to End Game on Tribble in no time. They may have slowed things down though. I haven't really been on Tribble (or Holodeck, for that matter) in weeks since I met my reward requirements and Cryptic's direction spoiled me on the game. :o

That is one of them PV, Thanks.

I dimly recalled a couple, but do not remember where. After Rank 11 or so ranking goes pretty fast anyway. Players have made some posts that they thought ranking was too fast, and I was recalling some items that said it would be.

I will carry that link into the other post for ref there.

Frankly, 100 million EC for Free players is by no means a Limitation for them... 10 million wouldn't be a limitation either. 2million would be much better.

I agree, actually id say 1.5 Million would work as there isn't much you can't do involving EC transactions with 1.5 million EC.

    I 2nd this.

They would also need to limit how much they can withdraw from a fleet bank otherwise it will just be done that way! An empty fleet bank, ec put in, they get temp access to withdraw.
