So I don't play alts, but I decided since my Fed Sci is rich and has all purp mk xi on her, her crew and ship, then I may as well explore the other faction of the game. So I began playing a Kling I had made back at release and got her from LC6 up to Commander 1 this weekend. Even with the XP Boost it seems like this was pretty slow going and I ran into some issues that I had not encountered before.
Basically I started off by doing the Breen series, all of it, so I could get the set. I then did some explore missions, but this felt awkward since I'm a Kling and I should be space pirating or something right? So I head to Kahless and do the kill missions. This lasted me a while, but I got bored of repeating it to so I took off to Azure...and did the same thing...
So then I decide I'll play through the Devidian missions. Now here is where I gave up. I don't remember the missions being this buggy when I did them on the Fed side. I literally had to exit out a coupel times when my BO's would not want to walk through a corridor or when the ceiling fell and I got stuck inside the metal fragments that fall in the hallway on the droza station.
Then I decide, forget that I'll try some other missions. I do a main Kling storyline and I end at a mission where I need to disable a Fed ship, then interrogate the captain. I do that, the captain talks, and then my BO asks me to warp out. Ok. Then nothing. Mission isn't complete, nothing to continue and no one to talk too.
TLDR: What is the best way to level as a Kling when everything seems to be broken? I'm a Tac in a BoP, 2 cannons and 1 torp in front with 2 turrets in back.
The game seems to be plagued by a lot of bugs in general with the latest season - don't worry, they will eventually get it under control. I've seen several issues already resolved, and the Foundy is back online now as well.
I used the Q Weekend to play my Orion a bit, and playing through the Devidian and Deferi story arcs in combination with a few raids in Pi Canis was sufficient for pushing her about ~10 levels from LtC7 to Captain 6. Fairly quick in my opinion! That said, I did all of this with a couple friends, and this does a lot in making things "feel" more dynamic and fun. I can only recommend teaming up with someone!
Speaking of Pi Canis - go there and do the dailies, that should help, too. Leveling has always been an issue with KDF, but it's doable. Switching back and forth between different characters (for example your Klingon and your Federation one) helps, too. That's what I did, based on what I felt like doing (though my Klingon was mostly for PvP back then).
In any case, you made the right choice. Diversity is always good, and playing all sides available will give you more content as well as more insight. Also, Klingons have a big style bonus here.
Oh, and welcome to the ridged side of life. Qa'pla!

Come see me to level...we have a smaller (132 members atm) KDF fleet but the people there are nice and active to a degree. I can show you how to level and it will be so quick it'll make your head spin...
Seek me out in-game or through the mail system. I will be floating around doing work for my KDF/FED fleet.
BTW... Welcome to the KDF, where we help our newbies in an honorable manner.....
