Hey guys,
Seems like that the KDF arent in the arms race yet. Are the kdf ever going to get any uber consoles that compare to the ones feds have been getting on their c-store ships? What gives?
I don't know for sure, but I feel I've read somewhere that in the next batch of ships being released (many of which are planned to have console special abilities), the KDF actually has a larger proportion. Please correct me if I'm wrong.
So the KDF may actually win this next phase of the 'arms race' :P
Also, all consoles will be available to both factions eventually (Duty officer system, anyone?)

I would very much like to see a link for the post where you read this...it would make me happy.
I've seen a post about some new skins for existing ships, but nothing about new ships, nor KDF getting any special consoles, nor that all consoles will be available for both sides.
Please show me where you read a Dev stating that.
Player-made rumor threads are just not beliveable.

Where did you see that all the consoles will be available to both factions? I highly doubt that. If they did do this it's a lazy fix, why not create different ones for kdf? Maybe that makes too much sense.

After much memory bank trawling.... Enjoy the rhode island feedback thread on the tribble forums section:
CaptLogan talked actually about ship skins the KDF should get sometime in the future. They never said when we will get them in the near future of IF they will be free at all. From previous experience I expect them that the ships will be delayed by the powers that rule again and in favour for more Federation only stuff. If we get them earlier I expect them that we will have to pay in C-Store for them an exorbitant fee.
Well, well...how interesting...
Now, to see if those quotes will be added the "The History of the Klingon Empire according to Cryptic" or if they will become reality anytime soon.
It would sure be nice...

Thanks Dan! it's refreshing to know that they are making some. So used to not having any shiny new toys for my ship. Hopefully these new consoles don't de-cloak my b'rel
Yes, most consoles on both sides will eventually be acquireable by the opposite faction. The exact mechanics of this are still being worked out. Similarly, we are working on a mechanic to make it possible to acquire these consoles in game.
The current plan includes about fifteen or so KDF consoles and ships in this batch, although the timing of when these come out may be staggered, and everything about this is subject to change based on a lot of factors. This is, in fact, somewhat more than the number of Federation consoles and ships currently planned for this set.
The KDF consoles are in the process of being built and artified (what, that's not a word?) They are still undergoing a lot of iteration, and we may very well pull some, add some, modify some, shift some around depending on a lot of different factors.
Some of the ones currently in the pipeline for the KDF include:
Aceton Assimilator
Vandal Siphon Probe
Barrier Field
Graviton Flux Wave
Isometric Charge
Vent Theta Radiation
Raiding Party Boarding Shuttles
All of this is subject to change, but all of the above are at some level of completion and testing internally. The above is definitely not the complete list, but we're still working on names for some of them (such as a sort of supertorpedo).
Ummm "Vent Theta Radiation" does not sound remotely Klingon.
In fact that sounds more like the Malon and their Theta Radiation garbage haulers.
Maybe Cryptic are setting up the appearance of a Malon faction in the game? After all, when we last saw them they were still looking for "new places to dump their garbage". What better place, than the Alpha Quadrant, and on the pesky Federation's doorstep?
According to the latest hotfix, your wish has been granted...
"Klingon players may now craft the Rare Hargh'Peng Torpedo launchers at odd marks. Fed players must still play the Doomsday machine episode to "obtain" the Hargh'Peng."
Can I also suggest "siege cannon" for the Negh'var and/or Vor'cha? We've both seen them unload some serious firepower in one shot like in Way of the Warrior and Redemption.
Ok, that definitly sounds like we will have to pay for the new ships with consoles in C-Store or grind emblems
I would be very surprised if the new ships/skins are anything but in the C-store. Cryptics does this for the money, not for fun. Klingons are frothing at the mouth for new ships and no matter how many may complain about it, many more will spend the money for those new ships when they come.
It's just a game to us, but, it's how they feed their families....
I may not care for it, but that's the reality of it. Accept it. I have.
The get heck of enough money out of this game, giving the KDF a bit of goodwill would show their commitment to the faction putting anything new KDF in C-Store is a great negativ sign.

So the KDF not only get better ships, but more consoles as well? beautiful. how about balanced factions for a change?

I would imagine that the new ships would follow in the footsteps of the Rhode Island, in that initially it will be c-store only. 'Eventually' they will be available through in-game means. [STOKED Interview]
In my view, the in game method should be finalised before c-store release in order not to **** off paying subscribers... ...
With any luck, once the RI gets released withing a short space of time the in game method will be ready to go and the ammount of time that the rest of the ships spend as exclusively c-store will be shorter (really though... not gonna happen)

Example: Even their most elaborate game, is banging heads together.... and thats not even battle.

Yeah ... but aren't those Feds sporting a specialized torpedo that we in the KDF developed?
Ok thanks for that useless input.

So maybe some sort of enhanced armor?

No guarantee, I know, given the track record. But it does look like at least initially they will all be c-store only.

As for consoles, a better term would be item - some of these may actually be devices or weapons.
Consoles have never meant actual consoles. Ablative Hull Armor doesn't sound like some type of computer.
"Klingon players may now craft the Rare Hargh'Peng Torpedo launchers at odd marks. Fed players must still play the Doomsday machine episode to "obtain" the Hargh'Peng."
And the race begins...
Waiiiittt..... does this mean we'll be getting new non-Klingon player ships?
