New Klingon; Need Advice

Howdy, fellow Klinks!

I'm new to the faction, and coming back to the game after a long break, and I was wondering what should the leveling path for a Klingon look like? I know they've tweaked the FEs with season 4, and I understand the content is somewhat think KDF side, so if anyone could shoot some advice in my direction, it would be very appreciated.

Thanks for your help!

Well, you have the option of PvP, Exploration Sectors, and some missions throw in.

When I'm levelling a Klingon, I try to get in to PvP when I can, but it is hard to find matches below Captain. I do enough exploration missions to get exploration badges to upgrade my ship. Once you can do the FEs, they are worth doing again at each promotion for the xp and gear rewards.

You are going to be doing a lot of the same stuff over and over.

Hi, I am new as well, is there any open space pvp or is there only sign up matches?

Ker'rat is the only open PvP Zone as far as I remember. Otherwise only the sign up matches with the broken ques.

If you plan on pvp'ing, even @ lower tiers, PLEASE join the Organized PVP chat channell. Good for advice, teaming, and general haberdashery.

Also in addition to Ker'rat, there's Otha, the open pvp ground map.

And welcome to the KDF :)

My journey to become a true warrior has but only begun, I am forced to hide my true allegiance like a damned Romulan. The day I acquire a ship to command I will break free of these chains of servitude and show the federation the way of the warrior, like the true klingon I am. My path to glory awaits, long live the empire!

As someone who has played KDF since Closed Beta the leveling path should look like this.

    Delete character.
    Remake as Fed Klingon.
    Enjoy better game experience.

    I'm serious.

If that doesn't appeal to you then you may be just the TRIBBLE that we're looking for. Welcome aboard. Abandon all hope, ye who queue up in KDF PvP queues.

I have to agree with this. Make a federation klingon you have a lot more fun.

the leveling schedual's been mussed up something hard since they level gated the FE's on our side. Something I hope they'll undo soon. Repeating some of the breen missions will help you along, and once you've unlocked the devidian missions Spin the Wheel grants decent XP for like 5 minutes of work. the PvP ques are slow, and open PvP is nice if you don't end up getting put in a map with a bunch of Fed VA's who love testing their epic skillz on lowbies. Also remember that Kerrat and Ortha have KDF versions as well, and you'll more than likely find that the KDF'ers will help you get your PvP missions since we're mostly all in the same boat, and not just making toons to mine 'the spot'.

It is unclear if you are trying to insinuate that they haven't gated the FE's by level on the Fed side or not. But just for clarification's sake, I am fairly certain that FE's are gated to both factions at the same level points. I could be wrong.

I was able to do the romulan FE on My new Lt7 Federation engineer yesterday. So they not gated on Federation side. At least not that arch.

Well **** me running. That's TRIBBLE. Assuming you aren't the craziest person in crazy town and you're telling the truth here, this is something that needs to get addressed one way or the other asap. I can -vaguely kinda sorta- see the logic behind gating it. (Not running out of fresh content on a character immediately and being bored for the last 75% of gameplay, instead occasionally allowing injections of new story line to break the monotony). But having it one way for one faction and the other for the other is..... ridiculous at best.....

You know those Kill X number of ship missions that you get in each "nebula" ? Yeah. Your path is basically do those ad inifinitum until you level to 41. Then go do the 41 to 50 content as the game synchs both factions up finally.

Would love to know Cryptic's reasoning behind this.

an attempt to make it appear as though the KDF has some sort of PvE story progression

Word is that FE's will be gated for Feds too, but that it was convenient to go ahead and do so KDF-side while revamping Qo'noS.

Of course, that doesn't really answer the question as to why it's being done at all...

In theory level gating the FE's is a good thing, the problem is that while there is plenty of content to lead up to those missions for the Federation the KDF still lacks the 3-4 missions that would be necessary between each promotion to keep people from having to do a lot of grinding between the episodes. Personally I'd rather see them ungated till such time as there's a minimal content necessary to bridge the gap. Currently the work up to FE series 1 is fine, but the work up to FE series 2 & 3? It just doesn't work with the current state of the KDF.

Because they want you to get the full KDF experience and not just farm the FE's for loot and xp. Because when you do that you miss the full richness of the kdf leveling experience...:D

It has an unexpected effect also, if you PvP.

The feds get scorpions before KDF has access to them.

Lt Cmdr PvP was more than a little annoying.

Not yet. I can't get The Vault on anyone until 31 (Captain 1), while on Fed side, I just ran them on a pair of LT6s. They claim to be planning on doing the same to Fed side, but they never even announced the change to KDF side before doing it, and only mentioned it after the uproar it caused.

Are you looking to get to Lt. Gen. as quick as possible,

If so then grinding Nebula missions is how I do it, I grind em for the marks of Exploration till I can outfit my
ship with the uncommon greens then depending on what lvl im at in that rank I might try some PvP or something else cause its hard to get matches at the lower lvl tiers, But the bulk of the ranks lvls are from
grinding to get to that next ship.

I can lvl a klink like this in about a week and a half give or take a day just playing around 2-3 hrs. a day
and once you get to Lt. Gen. its not that bad and its a plus if you like PvP but there are a lot more klinks
doing STFs now and there are some good channel out there for both "OrginizedPVP" "KDF STF" check
    em both out.

So Welcome to the KDF just learn to love the grind its not that bad and its worth it,
