    That really really SUCKS.

I leveled an alt to Ambassador ESPECIALLY to get a Gorn for one of my alts that already has an Orion. Now the new Gorn a out... and I cant trade them any more.
That was HOURS of work for nothing.

Cryptic is obviously prety urgent to erase any regret from leaving STO as soon as TOR is out... and any reason to ever return. Thanks for making that so easy.

Has it been confirmed that these cannot be traded to captains face-to-face (edit: confirmed)? If you can, then you just need a middleman to trade them from one of your characters to another.

I went to see Jiro last night as you guys said. I picked a Gorn (ENG) as my new boff. At first I was going to sell him and I could put him on the exchange. I tested it and it worked.

However, after a bit of thought, I made him a part of the crew. Now I have my own 9 foot walking lizard bodyguard :)

I have two pre season 4 uncommissioned that can still be mailed/sold but the one I picked up today can not. Created bug ticket #1,153,597.

Today the BOFF is no longer bound. If it's because of the bug report or not I don't know since I never got any feedback on it. I chose to believe it was just a temporary glitch and that Cryptic fixed it.

Have you guys tried to logoff and login? That was always the clue to resolving this pesty issue.

    Situation: Yeey finally got ambassador!
Get the Boff: Yeey I can put it on the exchange!

Oops. It gives me a message -> Cannot sell/trade.

Workaround -> Logout -> Login. Voila.

This always worked for me, and if it doesnt work anymore, something in S4 changed it probably. (perhaps not even intentionally)

But knowing Cryptic, they'll do everything to Bind your equipment -> the more reason to make a new toon -> More playtime -> More money. (Ofcourse the Dev's and employees need money but....)

Well even if this doesnt work before season 4 you could trade the Boff with a friend, switch toons and trade the Boff back. (at the time that i didnt know the logoff/login solved the problem)

Apparently people are too busy complaining to see what I posted a couple days ago....:D

I dunno if it's a bug or intended...but immediately after you pick up the Exchange BOff it *IS* bound to you.

HOWEVER That flag IS cleared when you relog. Not sure why, but that's the best way to deal with it if you want to trade/sell the BOff

Thats odd, ive been Ambassador for ages now. Ive only ever bothered to get the one (Awesome btw) Gorn for my crew. Who will be my Security officer (i dare you to break the rules on ma ship!) . Never knew you could get more than one .. :)

I remember seeing some dialoge stating that a Gorn wanted to join my crew. I never obtained a BOff though, when do you first get this? I am Consul right now, about 250 away from next tier.

When you get to Ambassador which is 1360 points if I recall correctly. Need to talk to Ambassador Jiro in person at ESD.

Ah, so the dialoge was just basically letting me know I'll eventually get a Gorn? I see, thanks! Thought mayhaps I should have gotten one already and you all were talking about a 2nd one at Ambassador.

The Duty Officer system is set to alter the rewards of Diplomacy so either we will get assignments to get rare Gorn, Orion, etc or getting common Gorn Boffs will be a reward for getting a lower rank and a rare Gorn Boff at Ambassador. Although, it is set to come out in a month when it hits Tribble so September or October at the earliest.

The only dialog I recall where it was mentioned a BO wanted to join my crew was at the end of the Romulan series, talking about the Reman. You don't get any mention of the Diplomatic BOs until you get the final rank, as I recall.

Yes yes! This rings a fuddy old bell! Thanks, that is where I remembered the Bridge Officer dialoge! I never got one from the Romulan series though, was I supposed to? Not sure why I thought it was talking about Gorn. My brain sometimes...

Thank you so very much for the information on the special limited time rewards. So they will "re-run" them in a fashion to obtain them again at some point?

Forgive me, I left at RA5 right before Season 2 came out and only just returned a week ago. I'm still trying to fathom the new things, items and changes.

Yes Cryptic will schedule Re-runs to make these officers obtainable they already did it once just keep your eye on the forums or in game bulletins when it will happen again.

I have NO plan to ever claim my diplomatic exchange BOFF until the options improve dramatically.

I do not want to be kicking myself in the pants by claiming a one-time-only reward that later gets changed to be something really good.

I suppose that probably means I won't be considering claiming it until after the DOFF system launches.

So let me get this straight - once you hit Ambassador, YOU are awarded the opportunity to have an enemy-faction BO assigned to YOU. YOU then, as Mr Ambassador, trade or sell this enemy-faction BO to another Fed player that may not be ambassador. And then you go back to Jiro to grab another enemy-faction BO to pimp out to someone else? Rinse, repeat, exploit, profit...

Sounds to me like one screwed up reward system that really isn't worth pursuing except to make EC by becoming a pimp. :(

I'm in the same boat. I've been holding off until the Diplo BOff is actually worth getting. I have a sneaking suspicion that Cryptic isn't going to change the Diplo BOff outright, they're going to add ways for us to increase the rarity through the DOff system. The problem is that there are a lot of folks that have already claimed their Diplo BOff so if they don't get a do-over they're pretty much getting screwed.

Has anyone heard of how Cryptic is going to go about changing the Diplo BOff, and what happens to the people that have already claimed it?

Can these enemy-faction BO's be used by non-Ambassador ranked Feds?

And it's quite clear that a Fed player can have a full bridge or away team of Klingon BO's.

You can only claim one Diplo BOff, even if you sell/trade it away.

You only get to claim him (or her but only if Orion) once. But people were complaining that they deleted them because they were white or sold them and want another x-faction BO becuase they didn't know it was a one shot deal.

What I was trying to say was if you were allowed to claim them more than once if you didn't have them (Like the c-store Photonic or Borg Lib BO) they would HAVE to be bind on pick-up because it would be silly exploitable..

BOFFS should not be bound at all so they can be retrained... The current bound one should just return to a players roster after 30 min in there pre trade state if not returned within that time frame. All BOFFS should be able to be traded back and forth between Capatins on the same account.......for some reason this is a no brainer that has eluded Cryptic

I should point out if you picked it up and immediately tried to sell it on exchange it may just be a bug.

I picked one up 2 weeks ago and it said I couldn't sell it, but I traded it to someone for a d'kora no problems at all.

The person I traded it to said he was able to post it on the exchange with no issues.

So with this info I say.... It may be a bug.

EDIT: I should be specific and point out i'm talking only about diplomatic BOFF.

On a side note I have an Orion Female BoFF that I earned on 1 character and with the help of a friend traded to my new characters crew.

The only BoFFs i have not been able to trade are the Breen, Reman and, Borg Boffs, oh and the Jem Hadar.
