KDF Open Sectors- Why Again?

I was noticing that once they opened up the Fed sectors to the Empire, there was nothing really to do. You can't enter their expanses, you can't dock, and no new patrol missions opened up in the mission queue.

What was the point of opening the sectors again?
I must have missed it somewhere....

    Well, they wanted to have something like the Pi Canis Convoy Raid as Open PvP zone in each of these Sector Blocks. But that got delayed.

    But even then, that's not very much to do, and it would be the same thing in every Block.

    I suppose all you really can do now is show your shiny KDF ship to the Feds for them to get envious. And I think you can enter the DSEs as well, provided they don't include Orion, Gorn, Naucassians or KDF. This pretty much means only the Romulan, Cardassian and Terran Empire ones are available. (Maybe you can use this go accolade hunting for the Terran Empire...)

    Eventually the plan is to open some sort of "open PvP" in those sectors. There should be DOff assignments available in those sectors for Klingons when that system goes live. The next Featured Series occurs around DS9, so we'll need access to that sector then. There is also the possibility that futured remastered episodes in those sectors will have a Klingon version, which would necessitate access for Klingons.

    They wont count for the accolade...tried this already...made a few lowbie feds agitated by my LTG presence...lol.

    It shouldn't. The Open PVP, the convoy raids, was pulled from the Tribble build and this feature didn't make it to live. They are changing it based on player feedback.

    I suppose once we get the Foundry back we'll be able to do more with it, write missions "behind enemy lines" so to speak.:cool:

    The other reason is for future FE series. If the KDF can't go to Beta Ursae - they can't p[lay an FE series on DS9, etc.
