So as to not take things off-topic and get the thread locked ...
Please stick
Peregrine Falcon's really comprehensive collection of developer and cryptic officer statements regarding the ongoing development of the Klingon Faction
It's an extremely useful, comprehensive and helpful collection of information.
I think that it needs to be stickied for posterity. Having the information on hand, the direct information from the Cryptic decision makers regarding the decisions made on how to develop the faction, benefits us all.

Not sure why... normally a dev posts a comment when they close it. All I saw was a warning that they would close it if the bashing didn't stop. The last few posts were downright civil.
That´s strange. Maybe I blocked it out, but I can´t remember a flame war. The last few posts were definitely civil.
I always knew that thread would never be stickied. It's essentially a list of embarrassment for Cryptic, simply by being the truth.
Anyway, if I'm still here after Season 4 goes live I'll probably start a completely unrelated thread entitled: Timeline of the Klingon Empire.
I don't know why it was closed either. Aside from one additional poster after WishStone made her statement the posts returned to being civil, and no post was given as to why the thread was closed. Thats a break from the norm that does make it seem suspicious. Considering that thread did need to be stickied.
It's a pretty big problem I've had with the forums lately. And it's really a very basic flaw that to me goes against the entire point of the forums.
A lot of key and useful information is just locked, or buried in these forums.
Stuff that players consistently ask about. And this is systemic. The Academy doesn't cut it. A lot of this stuff is pretty advanced you know? Like my usual example is EPS consoles. There are still a lot of players using these consoles. Which is fine, but many of them are using them under the idea that they work like they used to back around launch day. And that's because the basic gameplay information has been lost.
Same here. People talking about Klingons keep referncing them as being made as PVP only. And Peregrine Falcon's thread basically gave us Cryptic's entire development history and theory behind the faction so as to preserve it and allow us access to ... Cryptic's own words on the topic. For better or for worse. It's all there. It's a useful and amazing resource.
Locking it and burying it is a bad idea. And to tenuously do so under the dubious distinction it was a flamewar? That really does flicker very close to open censorship to preserve company image. Certainly their right, but one that needs to at least be cited or mentioned.
I mean come on. That's bogus, is all I have to say.
But oh well. Like I said, the actual important function of the forums ... sharing gameplay information, seems to have been relegated to the background. For what? I guess PR stuff? I don't know. But when third party sites like STO Wiki start to become the true repository of gameplay data ... for a game that doesn't even offer a comprehensive gameplay manual with the box purchase ... I feel someone needs to point out that this is really making the function of the forums somewhat useless.
If I have to keep explaining to new players what the real benefit of Antiproton weapons is every 3 months because the other 500 threads about them are too old to simply bump up ... then the forums have failed on a basic level.
This has nothing to do with posting guidelines. And everything to do with the core function for why the forums even exist. To share information? Doesn't seem so these days. And just to be perfectly clear ... all of this is just feedback. Feedback people. Remember what the other function of forums are? Feedback? Yeah. That's what I'm offering. My feedback on how I think the forums need to try and get back to the whole basic function of us sharing knowledge about the game. For new players.
Put a link to it in your signature. Post a link to it whenever you see someone posting information that's just flat wrong. That's the real reason that I made that thread in the first place.
It doesn't matter that it's locked. It still has useful information.

Well, that sucks, but thank you for putting it together.
That is a great idea. I just added your thread to my sig. It's too important of a post not to let stay buried.
EDIT: As a side note, I have absolutely no idea why it was closed. There was no flaming going on, certainly not after Wishy's post. It would have been nice to have gotten an explanation, though.

I would also remind everyone; Discussing the closing of threads or forum moderation is against the rules. That said, it has been mentioned by staff we can ask Crytpic for answers directly by posting an inquiry in the form of a ticket.
...in which case I'd like know whether only the OP of that closed thread can inquire.
If not there would a case for some general interest from the community why it was closed after the reason for a request from Wishstone to stop flaming ceased.
One mod comes, reads and warns. Another mod comes, reads, closes, and ignores the change of pace of the thread AND the warning from another mod. Bussiness as usual.
I'm guessing someone hit the "report" button on that.
The closing remark is just a copy paste.
Besides that, I agree that, closed or not, that thread should be stickied.
It's important to see the evolution of the Klingon faction, and it answers a lot of questions.
I'm afraid though, that it's an uncomfortable point for the company, and not only will never be stickied, but any "protest" thread will be closed as well.
So I recommend not venting any frustration the subject may bring on the STO forums.

Further: Please do not open threads on previously closed threads.
Thank you.
*Edit: I went back and checked on the thread. Sadly the Moderation Team forgot to post a final statement. In the end the thread had so many infractions that we had the choice to hand out a lot of infraction points or shut down the topic. Since we prefer to not give a lot of infractions on one topic, the choice was made to close the thread.
I will follow up with my Lead about this error. However: In the future I would need to ask you to please submit a Community Ticket if something like this happens.
Thanks.
