STF players- beggers can't be choosers

Well, I have just finished another weekend of not finding a team that will run Infected. I have been booted from two this weekend because I do not have team speak. Let me point this out: IT IS ABOLUTELY NOT REQUIRED. There are not many players on this side of the house, hence whe have to take the people we can get. Not having team speak or some other program is in no way indicative of a player's ability to coordinate. All this talk about only wanting to spend 1 hour or less on an STF is somewhat silly. In waiting for a full team, you may end up spending more time assembling one that try a shot wht those who are already there. Not everyone is a part of a strong, well coordinated fleet.

For my player ability, I will point out that I was part of an all TAC fed team that ran Khitomer Accord with three people completeling it for the first time in about 2 hours. We also spent about 15-20 minutes trying to get over the darn force field to get the Assimilated accolade. We were only using the game chat to coordinate. I have also be able to get a newbie team from the initial part of Fact or Fiction all the way past Manus (Rebecca Simmons) in about 30 minutes. On top of this, I have been using only common items equpped. I have been using the Borg set on my Federation Character, but everything else is MK 12 commons. For my ground equipment, only the weapon (anti-proton sniper) and the kit are ot commons. My character's skills are not even specially assigned, but evenly distributed on all skills.

I know there are some power players who like to max out their skills, abilities and gear. If that is how they play, more power to them. I will point out that a player with real skill can take a "helpless" character with crappy items and still do amazing things with that character. As a challenge to those power players, I give you this: try a PvP match against a player with purple quality items while you use only common items. If you can fight to a draw (as I have on occation), then you truely are a master of this game.

Sadly I have to agree with you. I have been trying to get a cure run going on the KDF side for 2 days now and still no luck. I've seen 10's of Fed groups go by, but with so little KDF in the game, we should be sticking together and helping each other out, not acting like elitist premadonas.

It's sad that although I much prefer the KDF shiplines, in the end I'm forced to play Federation characters...

Thank you! I felt the same way about some players being premadonas, but I felt it would be going over the top if I said so. Thank you for doing it for me.

I have been invited to the KDF STF channel, but while I can select that on my chat box, It will not let me post. Nor will it pipe in what people are saying.

My engineer took a week to do all three.
My Tac took about 4 months or something like that.
Inf, easy, Cure, hard to find a group, KA, 4 months.

Best time to find a Inf group for KDF is Friday @7 pm EST.
    Same for Cure.
    KA? Good luck on that.

Hint: Don't pug STF's with fairweather Klingons. They are feds who seem to quit at the drop of a hat..

I never ask voice chat of others though sadly I have trouble getting people to buy a measley stun pistol (for ec no emblems required). Players will insist on coming to an STF unprepared or refuse to change anything on their part then whine when they fail or it takes several hours and then bail or refuse to practice things like running and jumping (done it once and never try again). I'm not talking about emblem gear or anything high end, a simple stock of hypos, shields and power cells, decent equipment but above all FOLLOW THE TEAM LEADER'S STRATEGY! It doesn't matter how much experience you have, if someone else is leading you follow their direction and if you learn something new, fantastic! However, if you refuse to come along with hypos don't keep crying for help as some people do or whine there is no healer on the team.

I'm now in the FED/KDF STF channel so will happily lead pugs without voicechat but I will expect everyone to come prepared and willing to follow my lead.

Luckily I got my Klingon ones done within 6 days as soon as the borg stuff came out and remarkably before all my fed toons got their set .

The thing about having Teamspeak or some other voice program is this; Most players, will automatically enter Leroy Jenkins mode, and act before the team lead can type out directions. I have never run an STF without TS and unless I encounter a bug, i.e. Gates on the Cure, or various things in KA, we always have a simple time of getting people to do things (unless someone just doesn't listen). And while I agree, lack of the program doesn't remove a persons ability to contribute but having it makes cohesion much much easier.

That is correct...It assists in the cohesiveness of the group....I have run most of my missions with ventrilo or TS. The thing I am seeing is that people tend to not be able to picture what you need to do further on in some STF's and so you have to type. IN that situation, there are too many chiefs and not enough indians to follow....as everybody has their own idea of how to do it.

Pug groups I have seen are ok so long as you don't throw too much at them, otherwise they just fall apart and that forces a restart or what have you....that is without a ventrilo or TS program...We use it in our fleet just to comment on what is going on as many of us have been through these over and over again...for our newbies, we assign a buddy to take them through and have the newbie shoot at what they shoot at...nice system actually...never been in a fail group that way...lol.

Even if you just listen (not everyone has a mic) it makes things go so much easier. i have done it both ways and I prefer to have voice.

Aye, just listening has its advantages...for those that cannot talk because of no mic...a simple y or n 1 or 2 etc is good to communicate under fire....simple and easy...
