In the year 2408 after the Klingon and Gorn invade Cestus III a Starfleet Committee chaired by Admiral Jorel Quinn passed motion to explore other options and possibilities in order to build up the Federation with commanders and ships. "We need to promote exceptional officers quickly. We need our captains leading away teams. Starfleet needs to look at our whole command structure and do what works now, not what worked 30 years ago."

A Starfleet diplomat was sent back to the late 2260's to speak with Starfleet in order to round up several possible exceptional commander candidates and as many star ships as they could refurbish from the decommissioned roster. This section 31 operation was known as Projct Christopher after the 1960's aiforce officer that was beamed aboard the USS Enterprise.

In order to not affect the time continuum the only way to choose worthy captains out of their own time and bring them to the future is to find all those that have no future. The captains must be about to die and taken from circumstances seconds before they meet their demise. They now have to accept that they have no past but have been given a new future. These are members of the ghost fleet.

The chosen captains were given ships that were pre programmed with precise calculations in order to carry out the light-speed breakaway factor to artificially-created time warp in order to time travel back to the 2408.

Once the initial five captain were sent, Starfleet would keep their eye out for any such qualified command personnel to join the fleet and to help fight the war in the future.
    You may be that commander!

    TOS Fleet DOT COM

This Fleet is one years old! We wanted a mature relaxed fleet where our families came first and the fleet came second. We found a group of people with a lot in common and have a lot of fun.

Most of us are life members so we wanted something that will last a lifetime. Everyone has a say in the direction of the fleet and we are all equals.

The ranking system is based off of our in-game ranks. I figured if you became a Captain in-game that you deserve that same respect in the fleet.

We aometimes RP and RP in the forums where we are working on a backstory to justify older 23rd century uniforms in the 25th century and it is helping us to craft our bios.

Please check out our blogspot to read a little bit about our backstory or check out our website and the forums. If you are interested at all please fill out our short application and read a little bit more about us and get to know the members better. If we are not a good fit then there are no hard feelings. The TOS Veterans was created with the formation of Project Christopher.

Project Christopher is a Top Secret, Special Operation Project, thought to be initiated by Section 31 and said to be connected with, but at an arm’s reach from Starfleet Intelligence, The Department of Temporal Investigations, The Vulcan V'Shar and the Andorian Am Tal. Some of the "Projects" key personell and officers have a connection, even a position within these Intelligence agencies.

No one really knows how the Project is connected to these other agencies or organizations however it is clear that Project Christopher is self sufficient and not above the law, however it may be slightly beneath the law.

The project consists of sending back an extraction team to the targeted time periods to extract potential Captain material candidate’s moments before their demise and bringing them to the 2409 to help fight in the war efforts of the future.

It is not quite sure who is pulling the strings or if there is some other temporal violation that it is rectifying however, this organization is growing and is a force to be reckoned with.

Welcome to the Mariner 10 Spacestation.

Mariner 10 was named after an early 20th century Earth’s robotic space probe launched by the United States National Aeronautics and Space Administration. (Which later became part of United Earth Space Probe Agency) The Mariner 10 was launched on November 3, 1973, to fly by the planets Mercury and Venus. The Mariner 10 probe was the first spacecraft to use the gravitational slingshot effect to reach another planet, passing by Venus on February 5, 1974, on its way to becoming the first spacecraft to explore Mercury.

We're a group of mature (30+) and friendly players with real lives who share a interest in classic Trek. If you watched TOS afterschool as a kid, prized your model Connie, had a plastic phaser pistol, or just enjoy the original, join in for a little fantasy and a lot of fun and friendship.

We're interested in all facets of the game. We've got plans for The Foundry and a growing group intrested in PvP. We sometimes dabble in RP activities. And we're developing a fleet backstory together and sharing character bios. We are retrofitted to fight in the 25th century but we need you and your enthusiasm and creativity to help us out.

To check out the new (adding more every day) website, see:

    http://www.tosfleet.com/

And remember, if you happen to pass through the barrier at the edge of the galaxy and your friend's eyes start to glow, it's probably best to skil conversing and kill him already

Our play style is relaxed with no time obligations. We believe that all fleet members should have a say in decisions. Our ruling council members are here to answer questions and participate in conversations, not dictate commands. We want to keep our fleet bank stocked with unique items at all levels to help everyone out.

    We have a TOS theme...

But because we have all found STAR TREK at different points in it's history, we have 2 "sister" fleets that embody what STAR TREK is for all of us. Your TOS may be TNG so our mission statement above still applies! Join and add alts to all 3! Consider all three part of the same Fleet!

The backstory of our fleet revolves around a group of captains and ships brought from the year 2269 to fight for the Federation. We intend the fleet backstory to be a collaborative effort, so discussion, ideas, and expansions are welcome. Fleet characters should have bios that relate in some way to the backstory, and we are happy to brainstorm on how to do that collectively. The TOS theme and backstory is meant to be fun and not a burden.

No mandatory fleet uniform, rules, bosses or time requirements.

We are interested in all facets of the game, and plan to run occasional fleet actions with TOS era ships whenever possible. We also have plans to use The Foundry to create TOS-era adventures, flesh out our backstory and character biographies, and play with ideas that members have contributed.

A mature fleet with mature people -only- is just what I need, after getting sick of all the poor communications and teamwork around 'some other' organizations with big dreams and little in the way of motivation or leadership ability to get things done. (Sick of doing everything myself too).

Unfortunately, I'm a bit... short of the 30 years age requirement :P

“mature” is subjective lol We 30+ years of experience filtering our comments and learning to limit our reactions to situation hehehhe Some of is are still teenagers with something to prove Mid-Life style lol

We do have a good team of people/leaders and always looking for more. We try to remember that this game is about FUN and the Fleet is about sharing and giving opportunities for more fun. We also have a large group of fanfiction writers in our fleet and some of us just like being creative but need some help on the literary side.

Most other fleet recruitment efforts on this forum rely on large numbers of bumps.

While TOS Veterans are rather quiet (we really don't care to attract recruits by spamming "looking for fleet" topics, you can be rest assured we are hard at work developing the next generation of Starfleet commanders based on tried and true, 23rd Century style ** pioneering leadership

** May involve a lavish serving of James T. Kirk style butt kicking!

Here in today's video you can observe the end result of one of our Captains' RP sessions. We believe RP is not about sitting around Quark's wasting time, nor is RP a facade for unwanted social advances.

Roleplaying is about picking out a Star Trek personality you know and enjoy, and use him or her as a guide to develop and enhance your very own Star Trek gaming experience.

Roleplaying in TOS Veterans' is quick to pick up, has no time constraits and best of all, is a very effective means to enhance player to player communications and teamwork.

    Impossible, you say?

This 5 man PUG never met before last night. Yet, they are flying in task force battle order under RL-derived command methods with no voice communications. How?

Because our characters in-game are Starfleet officers. And so we act like Starfleet officers the moment we log on, pen our own Star Trek episodes and post them as fanfiction or just good 'ol war stories.

A good fleet I believe does not need to boast about their huge quality playerbase and how they go around helping the newbies. That is so much bull, because if you're really good at training new players in the art of naval battle management...

You make videos like these to prove you can do it.

What's even more impressive is that the members of Project Christopher are now roleplaying their characters and their unique backstories 7 days a week.

We don't need to advertise ourselves as an RP fleet... when we're demonstrating the capability to do that as a community automatically and to support the same with professional quality background and fanfiction writing.

More importantly we also make canon-style writing accessible to all by virtue of the senior writers who are willing to mentor and instruct anyone who has a passing interest in the subject.

This is a unique capability that's made possible by a mature community with a strong real world professional background.

I would be interested in joining, relatively new to the game and recently started STF's.

TNG would be my TOS as its the one I grew up with. Should I sign through the TOS site or is there a sister one I should look at?

    Thanks in advance :)

    EDIT:
My sig is incorrect and I did originally buy the game at launch but had no time to play so hence why I am relatively new (just returned)

We have a website at http://stotosveteransfleet.guildlaunch.com/index.php?gid=205090

Application form is first link on the left, and straight on till mornin'. Oops that didn't sound right.

This is an easygoing fleet so don't expect a huge essay writing contest to get in, we don't need that. If I can help you get the application approved before the end of today, I'll be glad to.

See you in space, and oh, if you have any queries about TOS Veterans', feel free to contact me. Ingame handle is @carmenara.

as a long term Trek fanatic and sadly being what is considered in MMO circles the "wrong" side of 30 having a reasonably similar peer group would be something of a boon in regards to the game as a whole.

I am sadly more a TNG fan this being what i really got into as a teenager watching reruns on BBC2 having initially fobbed off my uncles attempts to lure me toward TOS as "camp" and "cheesy" when compared to TNG's light show and more mature plot...

....In that regard i have to thank CBS and the relaunch, I am now a HUGE TOS fan even going so far as to pre-ordering at *shudder* GameStop to get hold of my Connie.

But with addition of the various TNG offshoots such as DS9 and Voyager as well as a myriad of TNG based games i still find myself very much more at home in the 24th century uniforms and ships even going so far as to fly the much maligned Galaxy X & wearing my All Good Things uniform in game or the somewhat more "real uniform" style of the TNG era movies.

I would love to join the fleet and will be applying with gusto as soon as is possible...

...there is one little thing...well two

I enjoyed Enterprise...i mean i really loved that show, dont ask me why, perhaps i was somehow expecting Scott Bakula to suddenly flash white and turn slightly off camera and say "Oooh Boy" at some stage....who knows.

and i tend to role play as a member of the Mirror universe...i think its the beard thing...i've had a goatee for the last ten years and i dont think even my kids would recognize me without it.

should this all be in order then i will apply with a song in my heart and an agoniser clipped to my belt. :)

Please excuse this note because I stole this from a note that I just wrote to another person interested in the TNG side to our Fleet. I just took a quick break at work and ran out of time :)

We have a TNG sister Fleet within our Fleet.

The idea of the TOS Veterans was originally to interest older gamers in the STO community.
The TOS was not necessarily to represent (The Original Series) but to represent the Original Series that got us hooked on Star Trek. That being said your TOS may be TNG and we have a place for you is you are looking for a mature (+30) social casual Fleet.

The TNG Veterans are a Full Fleet inside out greater network of Fleets including the Qan Mang Klingon Fleet. In the TOS Veterans the backstory suggests we are all part of Project Christopher that started in the 25th Century and originally went back to the 23rd Century to find suitable candidates and bring them to the future to fight in the Klingon war. They then went back through all the timelines to find the best of the best. (also watching not to alter the time continuum)

Please follow my signature block link to see a little more about what our Fleet is all about. They are a lot of fun!

Our play style is relaxed with no time obligations. We believe that all fleet members should have a say in decisions. Our ruling council members are here to answer questions and participate in conversations, not dictate commands. We want to keep our fleet bank stocked with unique items at all levels to help everyone out.

We have a TOS and TNG theme...

But because we have all found STAR TREK at different points in it's history, we have 2 "sister" fleets that embody what STAR TREK is for all of us. Your TOS may be TNG or DS9 so our mission statement above still applies! Join and add alts to all our timelines! Consider all of them parts of the same Fleet!
