IMO I think you should go for the g16 nv. The stats on the nv are higher for the most part. You can stash the gear with other caster alts and wont regret choosing a pure PVE set if you ever decide to try NW.

If you can't decipher the armor or weapon paths based on the database(although i dont know why), just look at the forges to see the required equipment then write it down. Go backwards, starting with the Rising Dawn forge in Warsong or Lunar.

The mystic you squaded with must have been incompetent and did not understand the class well. I can solo heal a squad as a mystic just fine.
