If you have the quest to get the stone from the botique, the banker won't show the quest to gather the materials. So if you have that quest on your list, just cancel that quest and then go to the banker to choose the gather the materials quest.

Does any of this advice change if you are a more causal player and gain levels slowly? I've been playing since July 4th, and my Barb is level 27. If I play at the same frequency, it will be a long time before I'm la high level. So is there any value to sharding/refining my gear at this lower level?

The squad needs to cooperate in order to be successful.
