Yes it's a physical modem with a coaxial cable plugged in it. It's plugged to the computer with a USB cable, I had to install a driver, and after that the internet always works as long as the USB cable is plugged in. I don't own a microwave. The only thing that's wireless in my house is my phone, but it's not near my computer. I use dial-up with a cable modem, its capped at 900 kb/s. This is the only computer connected to internet in my house but I live in an apartment so I dont know about the neighbours.
