We seriously need multi updates because the gap between pwi and pwcn is getting bigger. Seeing all those changes and we will get this in like 2 or 3years? If we are lucky even. Well they don't have to run an event to make players happy. They could simply give free code that contain rewards for example lv9 glyph, infant pills, event gold, mount/flyer/fash item and so on . Such generous code would make everyone happy.

Again merge is not going to happen. Problem people compare pwi to pwcn. 1st pwcn is literally works for China and not for the entire world means people who play it from there are same time zone or similar while pwi is for entire world. Let's say merge happened and game decided to pick random time for TW/NW and so on . If time fits for Europe then 50% or 75% of current USA players will end up leaving or the opposite. Unfortunately, merge servers is no longer possible due to time zone of each region. Currently some regions already can't attend some events due to time zone and with another merge it will end up with more pissed/quit players than active game.

Depend if they will give a code then you might be able to get even more than few levels

Level up alts is ok now? Or lost levels will be gained after next shut down? Also farming mats will be saved or we will lose all after they fix the issue?
