I would think Silence Seal would be preferable to Chromatic Seal in pvp, but I suppose there are uses for it. So long as someone doesn't break the sleep, you get to put someone out of combat for a while. The problem is, unless it is 1v1, one of their buddies can just whack them and wake them up.

While technically correct, you can gimp your healing at lower levels, till you get enough spirit later on, if you do not spend your points wisely. As a cleric, I would have to say that thunderball is not a useless skill. I use it in group often doing boss/instance crawls. I have experienced the same problem. I suspect it is not such an issue at higher levels where you will use squad heals more often than single target heals. There doesn't seem to be much of a difference in either of them, with the major exception that one is metal and one is water. I would say get both and use the elemental vulnerabilities to your advantage.
