You are unrealistic. And, given the fact you seemed to comment on my arguements and even directly stated I must have taken advantage of the exploit myself, I certainly WILL comment on your arguements, flaws and behaviour. I respond in kind. Try and use ad homeniems on me and I'll come right back at you. And I don't doubt…

I am trying very hard to point out to you that it was PLAYERS that screwed you over. Mostly likely some VERY players you stand next to on weekends in TWs. If you want to hold anyone responsible then, when you come across them, hold THEM responsible...EVEN if they are your own faction members.

Since when does majority opinion in the US dictate the detailed business and technical decisions of corporations? It might dictate indirectly broad-brushed business direction but not details on the level we're talking about here. And since when is a majority opinion on an MMO forum representative of the majority of the…

Again....you presume to know what's best based ONLY on what you know as a player and forum member. The decision was made by PW based upon all the information YOU have AND their GMs, QA staff, developers and financial people. They made a decision with a load more information than you have at your disposal yet you and others…

And those selling at that price either KNEW they were participating indirectly in an exploit or were just plain stupid. If you knowlingly buy stolen property, or launder stolen money, in RL you are guilty of a crime. This is no different.

I'm not "sure" of anything and I doubt the player base will ever be privy to all the details. All I'm saying is that PW made a decision based on information that none of us have. I find it silly to arm-chair quarterback like this based on the information we DO have.

Sorry, I'm not going to do you the favor of letting you blabber like an **** without response. Your first argument is an Ad Hominem and not worthy of response since it is not in the least based upon any evidence. And I can NOT tell you how many people profited from this. But then neither can YOU tell us how many are left…

I appreciate your honesty here on the forums. Please read my ATM machine analogy then ask your question. Briefly; If you withdrew $100 form an ATM and it erroneously dispensed $1,000 would it be "stealing" if you deposited the $1k and withdrew it again to get $10k? The in-game bug is pretty much equivalent to that but with…

It's rather easy to be willing to bet on something that you'll never be given the opportunity to test. Typically MMO forum posters are a different type of player. The sample population here is not representative of the entire player base. It's been that way in every MMO I've played since UO.
-
That's a contradiction... Unless the first question was rhetorical you state you wonder then state your absolute knowledge.
-
Exactly, someone with ethical values to be admired. Thank you!
-
How about the opportunity was taken away very directly by those that exploited the bug. Have you done your own house-cleaning and hunted out those in your own faction that might have exploited and brought about this course of action? I'd be interested in a RoC list of exploiters kicked from the faction...certainly not ALL…

I think you have completely missed the meaning of; "The customer is always right." It does NOT mean the customer is always right about how to run your business. It does NOT mean the customer is always right about how to manage QA, maintainance and development. It does NOT mean the customer is always right about how to…

And when we do we all have a responsibility to report it so they can investigate. Things like that are CLEAR markers for the exploit and I'd hope that reports of people with such highly improbable items would be investigated.

Show me specific non-anecdotal evidence of a continued 10x inflation. and then I'll agree they should change the $-zen exchange rate.

LMAO...ummm...it's a BUSINESS. They make BUSINESS decisions. When you have part of the responsibility for making the business succeed THEN you can have some of the authority to make decisions. Has absolutely nothing to do with democracy vs. dictatorship.
-
Actually a better example would be if you withdrew $100 dollars from an ATM and it erroneously dispensed $1,000. Then, figuring the ATM people were responsible for their glitch, you deposited the $1,000 and withdrew it again erroneously recieving $10k...and continued doing that over and over again until you had exhausted…
-
yeah...unfortunately there are plenty that think it's perfectly fine. It was the ATM manufacturers fault it malfunctioned therefor entirely their problem. The idiots picking up money that CLEARLY is not theirs are, in their confused tiny minds, not in the least obligated to do anything else other than line their own…

If you find these analogies meaningful AND you don't believe what YOU did in accepting the ill-gotten gains was unethical then there really isn't much that can be said to you since I don't think you are willing to try and understand. You're only attempting to make excuses for yourself and the others. The best analogy here…
-
You DARE to talk ethics here? You knowingly took advantage of a game bug. One that, if you had an ounce of sense, you KNEW would destroy the economy quickly. At the very least IF you had an ounce of ethical sense you would delete everything you gained from the exploit of an obvious bug. Either you behaved unethically or…

I don't imagine they ignored them at all. I'm relatively certain they took them into account along with a LOT of other information we don't have access to. But then why would you simply ONLY listen to an MMOs forum majority when making a business decision? I certainly wouldn't and no MMO I've ever seen based all their…
-
No, you won't get them all. You weigh the estimated effect of each course of action and choose the one you feel is less disruptive. PW did that and they have access to information we do not. If I were standing on the outside and had to choose who's risk assessment and management plan to go with I'd take the group that had…

Huh? My side of what? I'm saying that anone that claims the majority of PLAYERS favor a rollback based on a poll here is incorrect. All it shows is the majority of players on this FORUM favor a rollback. And I was pointing out that MMO forums are typically NOT representative of the entire player base. The issue was about…
