When fighting a boss with powerful DD in the party, I generally spam FR and hope noone grabs aggro. At what point would using Roar be a good idea? I have usually only used that to grab aggro from a group of mobs.

I like just using polehammers. They have a slightly higher attack speed than dual weapons and have higher lower end damage than poleaxes. Try to get Xeno's sledgehammer after lvl 41. It's a great legendary weapon. Until then, get an Icebreaker.

Barbs are still fun to play. You don't have to worry about competing with 5aps people for a very long time. You can restat to become a fist barb when you get to 100 or whatever.
