Not everyone has more than one account, and not everyone has more than one computer. A lot of players have multiple characters on a single account, myself included. Why? Because switching between characters doesn't require logging off and onto a different account that way.

They'd have to put an option to "hide the helmet" in the options interface, so everyone could turn the "show helmet" option off like most of the players in other MMOs tend to do. Guess what! You don't have to play one, and no one said you have to use their racial ability.

It's just random chance, and even at 1% you can get a few crits in a row, and then have many more attacks not crit at all. Crits are just easier to notice.
