I had same problem so I trashed the quest went back to the archouser student and picked up quest again. I decided maybe it was cause I was flying that I had probs the first time. so I walked to all the cordes and the mobs poped up for me. Try not flying and only walk to the cordes. Worked for me maybe that is the answer…

I agree with you. What every one is not remembering we dig and set fire to distract them, but when you go to middle they sure as heck are not distracted. They do come in at you hard and fast. That said I have seen others wait till some one else drops and gets attention before they go in for pop up.
